PRODUCT DISTRIBUTION: THE BASICS

Whether you are a small-town bakery, an eBay powerseller or a heavy machinery

manufacturer, at some point during the course of your business, you will need to
transport your goods. Choosing the correct mode of transport means striking a
balance between time and budgetary constraints. Get the balance wrong, and you
will be faced with a set of deeply unimpressed customers.

The speed of transport is also important: if you have perishable items, sending it on
a three-month sea voyage through Africa is a bad idea. The transportation you
choose is reliable to satisfy your customers.

If you are transporting dangerous or dangerous products, there are several

guidelines that you must follow. Contact the dangerous goods branch of the
Department of Transportation.

If your products are expensive or you are shipping your product by sea, you may
consider it for insurance. This translates into the form of goods in transit or marine
insurance, and is paid to the buyer or seller. If your cargo is valuable, it may be

While damage during transit is quite common, it is usually the responsibility of the

Road

meters long, 2.55 meters wide and 44 tons, including fuel and truck.

Air

Air freight is, without a doubt, the fastest way to transport your products over long
distances, but it is expensive.
Air transport is carried out by air freight lines and regular passenger aircraft.
As with excess baggage on passenger airlines, air cargo is usually charged per
kilogram. VAT if you are importing.

Sea

Shipping your products by sea is relatively cheap, if you are sending large
volumes. It's slow, inflexible, few.
