Questions

Please provide a detailed description of the incident/concern using specific concise, objective language (Who, what,
where, when, why, and how).
At approximately 9am on Oct. 21st, the Miami University Students for Life organization set up our annual
Cemetery of Innocents display, consisting of about 1,000 small flags and two posters. This display was
properly documented and approved by the administration. Around 1-3pm, the display was removed in its
entirety. The remains were found in nearby trashcans around the Armstrong Student Center (photos
attached) and MUPD was contacted and a report was filed. Students for Life put the display back up with the
found remains. By around 10pm, the display was again gone and this time the remains were not found.
MUPD was again contacted and a report was filed. At around 1pm that day, a student named Maggie
Angevine posted on her Snapchat story that she wanted to take the display down (screenshot attached).
Because the display was not found, we were unable to host the display for all 3 days (Oct. 21st-Oct. 23rd) as
intended.

Did MUPD respond?

No

If MUPD responded, what was the name of the responding officer(s)?

Charles Howard

Narrative text
On October 22, 2020 at 2320 hours, Sergeant Burkett and I responded to the outside area behind Roudebush Hall where a group held
their annual Cemetery of Innocence. The display was set up near the seal and consisted of approximately 1,000 flags representing the
number of abortions. We met with two members of the group, who stated that an unknown person(s) stole their entire display of flags. The
flags were bright pink in color. The theft occurred between 2216 and 2255 hours, after Officer Howard left the area to returned to the
station for shift briefing.
