Question # 1: Read the given case. 

A second-year student of USC arrives home and shows his final grades to his father. The father is
dismayed to see the following grades: Math in the Modern World (5.0 or dropped), Purposive
Communication (NC, No Credit), Understanding the Self (3.0), Ethics (1.2), and Arts Appreciation (2.9).

Your task: If you were the father in this case, what would you say as a prophet engaged in dialogue? In
one paragraph only, write the exact words/statements that you want to say.   See to it that the 4 roles of
dialogue are considered starting with listening, proclamation of the Good News, the denouncing of evil
and the coming up with a proposal. (20 pts.)

Answer:

Tell me about your grades I’m really surprised by these. It looks like you’re having a hard time with these
subjects and it’s making you frustrated. Is there something going on at school that I need to know? To
be honest I am very disappointed with this but If you are having hard time with your subjects you should
told me, you know I’m here to help. I can hire a tutor if you want just tell me if you are having a
problem. Keep in mind that this is for you, this is for your future I hope you will do better.

Question # 2: Read Lk. 4: 16-30 on Jesus’ Sermon at Nazareth. Then, fill in the table with the correct
answers. (10 pts.)

1. Communication He went into the synagogue as he usually did on the Sabbath day.

2. Bible He told them that the scripture he had read was fulfilled in their hearing.

3. JPIC He told them how God favours even the Gentiles and not Jews alone, He
would even work miracles for the Gentile and leave them alone.

4. Mission Animation He opened the book/found the place that was written about him/read it to
the people.
