Upon review of Domain 4a; reflecting on teaching- this is done on a daily basis in my

student teaching journal. I also receive feedback from my mentor teacher regarding
ways I can improve the lesson and things I did well in the lesson. Review of student
assessments also allows me to further reflect upon the lesson and how I could have
furthered their understanding.

Upon reflection of Domain 4b; maintaining accurate records- I am constantly taking

notes and writing down anything important throughout the day. We also keep track
of participation and submitted assignments using google classroom.

Upon reflection of Domain 4c; communicating with families- I feel that this
component is incredibly important. I want to maintain an open and constant flow of
communication in my future classroom. Currently, in my student teaching placement
I do not have much direct communication with the parents unless it is live on zoom
when they are with their child. In September, I did attend a back to school night and
was able to introduce myself and explain a bit more about me. Domain 4c also states
“All of the teacher’s communications are highly sensitive to families’ cultural norms.”
This is definitely something that I have to always remember and consider prior to
lessons or activities. There are several students who do not celebrate Halloween and
when we learned about election day and voting a student became upset because and
said she will never be able to vote and that her mother cannot vote. This is
something I did not initially consider but was able to make sure every student felt
accepted and included in the conversation and lessons.

Upon reflection of Domain 4d; participating in the professional community; I have

not had too much of a chance to engage myself during this student teaching
placement because of the virtual setting. In the past I have run a “mini sports” club
and I look forward to promoting activating that positively impact school life in the
future.

Upon reflection of Domain 4e, growing and developing professionally; I continue to

seek as much feedback as possible while attending any professional development
activities that I can. My mentor teacher is also teaching an instructional II
professional development class in the near future for her colleagues which I look
forward to attending.

Domain 4f; Showing professionalism is very important to me. Looking back on my

teacher training this was one of the first things we learned about and it continues to
be so important. We must continue to be seen as the person who leads the room
and creates a positive environment where students are able to be successful and
comfortable.
