Social Media Preliminary Report

Preliminary Report — Clubs & Organizations

WUABJ could host a virtual panel discussion on the topic of the black
community and how it is being portrayed over time in the media. If successful
this virtual panel discussion will make the WUABJ organization more well
known to students because it is an event focusing on current issues, It will
give students the opportunity to learn more about the issue as well as hear
from professionals on the subject and give students the opportunity to
understand the importance of what the black community faces during these
times. The event could also allow students to chime in for discussion making
the event interactive and relevant so that students feel engaged and a part of
the discussion. We would promote the event via instagram posts daily posts
of flyers as well as reaching out to WUABJ members to promote the event to
spread awareness to their friends and or fellow students. Upon hosting the
event as well as during the event WUABJ can ask its participants to take part
in a poll on certain issues that may come up while the discussion takes place.
After the event WUABJ can send out a Thank You email to all that
participated and ask them their opinions on how the event went as well as if
they enjoyed the event and the discussion that took place.
Eagle Air can host a radio show with professionals in the
communications industry to discuss how COVID-19 has changed the
communications industry and how they are overcoming the challenges they
are facing during this time of adjusting to the new normal. They can also
discuss the advantages as well as the disadvantages within the
communications industry within the pandemic. This event can be broadcasted
via zoom or Instagram Live so that Winthrop students are able to attend the
event virtually. This event will allow students to interact with professionals in
the communications industry that are having to adjust to this new normal more
and more everyday. These professionals can provide tips and information on
what is changing and how they are adapting to it. As far as promoting, we
could create digital flyers as well as poster flyers that will state the name of
the event, time, date and link information to join the event. We could post the
digital flyers on all social media platforms like Instagram, Twitter, and
Facebook. We could get different winthrop organizations to share it to their
pages to continue to spread awareness of the event. The digital flyer could
also be posted on the TV’s in the student center. The poster flyers could be
posted in the communications department building as well as the dorms on
campus. The poster flyers also could be hung in the student center, other
buildings on campus and in elevators around campus.
In order to leverage the “Winthrop Close Up” program, we have
decided to make an entire episode of “Close Up” centered around the ways
that clubs are coping with the COVID-19 crisis. This program will highlight
all of the above mentioned groups, as well as taking a look inside of how the
show has changed from pre-COVID life, and how the Winthrop Close Up
club has been coping with all of the changes in the “new normal.” This not
only promotes Close Up, but promotes all of the other programs that Winthrop
has to offer. As a group we will look up various resources for students who
are looking to get involved on campus and have them all presented in the
show. The show will demonstrate how clubs and organizations are dealing
with being active on campus. Demonstrate the benefits the challenges that the
organizations on campus may be facing during COVID. Resources &
information that is useful for student organizations in running successful
meetings/events during COVID.
