STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

As the Legal officer of a reputed Bank who handles legal documentation and advising
many branch staff on legal issues I really need to widen my intellectual competencies
with regard to the main areas such as Company Law and Banking Law I deal with in my
day to day work. University of Colombo inevitably the best place to seek a postgraduate
education. Therefore I have chosen the LLM programme you offer and I am sure the
expertise of your faculty would offer me broader perspectives with regard to my career in
the legal profession and I will also have the opportunity of meeting like minded people
from all walks of life . I am sure this programme will sharpen my skills of analysis and
deepen my understanding on legal issues which will in turn help me to assist the
Institution I work for by providing excellent and comprehensive assistance as a more
competent professional. I know that this programme will also give me an opportunity to
develop and employ the latest knowledge and techniques of law in my day to day work in
fulfilling my expectation to seek an advanced level in the ladder of hierarchy of the
Institution I worked for. I also believe that I am obligated to use my talents in a
constructive manner that benefits the society and I strive to be a tremendous help to the
people oppressed and affected by injustice with my professional knowledge and wisdom
