Literature Review
In this essay, my topic question is How would the world be if women ran the world
instead of men? There are many reasons as to why I chose this question. I want to see what the
difference in the workforce would be if there is a preference. How productive people are with
specific genders. Or only if it doesn’t matter with people what gender their boss is. Since more
women are starting their own businesses in the twenty-first century, I want to see if a female
startup company is better than or less than a male startup company. These are some of the
questions I am using to answer the question: How would the world be if women ran the world?
All of my sources that are used for the essay have the interpretation that yes, times are
definitely changing along with the way things work and run. They each have a point of
repeatedly saying that women lack confidence, are more focused on family, and get paid less.
“women’s failure to achieve parity with men: Women negotiate poorly, lack confidence, are too
risk-averse, or don’t put in the requisite hours at work because they value family more than their
careers.” Harvard Business Review. While Moria Forbes also says, “British female executives
were paid over 20% less than their male colleagues.”. These two show that women are looked at
in a certain way with being the boss. These help me look for the why/how of this topic. These

two quotes help me with going into other questions for my topic. These two quotes also show
that if the roles were reversed, women would make more money get more promotions, and
In the article by Travis Mitchell, he states the differences that they have are in a chart
that women are more likely to take risks. In the other resources, they mostly say women are
scared and less likely to challenge getting a raise or promotion because of the “lack of
confidence.” The data in this article is mostly different than all of my other resources. I found an
article that’s a public debate on whether men make better bosses than women. One said,
“Because men are more reliable and Mens are the great bosses because they ensure that their
company’s work environment is founded upon trust and respect. “. This source is entirely the
opposite of Mitchell’s thought process, but I would use this article data for people’s opinions on
which gender is more liked and requested. The data from these sources will help me form a
From the articles, many would simply say your answer is men run the world better. That
is not what the question is and how the paper will be answered. These articles give the data on
how they perceive women in the workforce, how their feelings affect things, and judgment
toward the topic will help provide reversal roles and possibly show how they would work. One
misconception throughout the articles was the fact that women are always in competition with
each other. Women have and are supporting one another and aren’t just tearing one another
down. Most women-led businesses are in communications with each other and help them. The

money, do things to knock others out of the race, but still, things are seen as women not capable
The information from these sources I did quote I plan to use but the rest I just read help
me get more questions and make me wonder more. Why would people see it as females being
scared while men do the exact same things while in the boss position? Is it because it’s
stereotypical for men to be in charge? Why when women can do more than men? Men are seen
as the gods of business; why can’t it be the goddesses of business? If women were in the guy’s
shoes and the world reversed stereotypes for a while, would the world be the same? These are
some of the many questions I get from these couple paragraphs, and although the answer would
never be set and final, I would like to see potential outcomes of what it would be like and why.
