OVERVIEW
In this module, you will learn to distinguish the different speech styles
used, which are being dictated by the different speech contexts. Distinguishing
the different speech styles will help you find an effective way to communicate
with people in accordance to the situation you are involved.

Work on this with the help of a family member. In the space below, try
to list down at least ten (10) reasons why appropriate language use should
be observed in using different speech styles in different situations.
Try this last part. Again, you will need (a) family member/s to work
on this. Choose among the following situations given below. Act out the
chosen situation in 2-5 minutes. Remember to be mindful of the speech
style that should be used and the importance of language use, and verbal
and verbal behavior. Record your output and review it by watching and
observing. Then, write down your own observations about your output.

Description:
This lesson introduces the various types of speech styles. Speech styles
are forms of language that are affected by the context of the situation. Also, it
dictates the level of formality of a context. The five types of speech styles are
casual, intimate, consultative, formal, frozen. Unconsciously, these styles are
the effects of the way people communicate in their everyday lives.
