1. It is a representational art because it is easily
recognized by audience and it portrays real-life
situation. Its subject is genre, because it depicts
aspects of everyday life such as planting crops. It is a
social function because it was made to be seen for
public situations and to influence a group of people.
The content of the artwork has a factual meaning for
it can be literally recognized. The elements that were
dominantly used are color, texture and value. These
elements were made to emphasize the farmers and
the other details. These elements gave impact to
make it a realism and to show balance of the
artwork. In my own interpretation, this artwork was
made for a social realist movement in the Philippines.
It is to show how we need to empower the farmers
and appreciate what they have done for us.

Kabukiran, Baen Pablo Santos

2. The artwork is a representational art, and it is a genre

which shows real-life scenarios. It was made for social
function for it depicts experiences that people should be
concerned about. The content can be factual or
conventional. It can be interpreted literally or it may have
a deeper meaning. The elements used in the artwork are
shapes, lines, color, texture and value. The elements were
integrated to add more meaning on the piece, and to have
a more composed artwork. I can interpret is as how men
protect women at all costs. The subject is about a Filipina
woman’s dignity, so it can be portrayed how the man
defend the woman, either his wife or daughter, from being
raped or sexually abused. It is socially relevant, but
sometimes, it ca be seen in today’s generation that a man
does not always value a woman’s honor due to their own
selfish desires. This artwork is a reminder that a man must
respect woman’s dignity, not the one who will take Defence of a Filipina Woman's Dignity,
advantage of her own worth in a wrongful manner. Fernando Amorsolo

3. The subject of the art is non-objective, since it is simply
an imaginative abstract composed of different shapes
and lines. It is non-representational and the artist relied
upon the art style with deeper meaning. It is a personal
function wherein the artist aims to explore the
interrelation between sound and color that can widen
his or her horizon in different art elements. The content
of art has a subjective meaning, since it is a personal
function. It explains to us how we respond to this art in
different ways. The elements used in the art are shape,
line and color, and it was integrated by means of
abstract. The elements gave justice to its abstract form
and gave more emphasis to convey the artist’ intent. In
my own interpretation, it depicts complexity of
imagination between parallel and algorithms. It might
be a complete chaos, but the different elements made it Composition VIII. Wassily Kandinsky. 1923.
