“What Is Mental Health?” Edited by the US Department of Health, What Is Mental Health?

MentalHealth.gov, 28 May 2020, www.mentalhealth.gov/basics/what-is-mental-health.

The key points in this source are to describe what the clinical definition of mental health is.

In this article, you are provided with a list of warning signs to look for in you or others

around you as well as symptoms to help pinpoint if you need to get treatment and advice

from a medical professional. There is also a section of myths vs facts of mental health and

that’s what made this source stand out for me.

Bhandari, Smitha. “Major Depression (Clinical Depression) Symptoms, Treatments, and More.”

WebMD, WebMD, 13 Sept. 2020, www.webmd.com/depression/guide/major-depression.

The key point in this article, or source, is to provide one with what is the medical

definition of Major Depression, or sometimes called Clinical Depression. It also provides a list of

symptoms to look for in someone or even yourself. It goes on to list the treatments and while

there is no single way to pinpoint the causes, it does narrow down what could contribute to one

being diagnosed with this disorder.

Browne, Dillion. “Anxiety: Symptoms, Types, Causes, Prevention, and Treatment.” Medical

News Today, MediLexicon International, 11 Jan. 2020,

www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/323454.

The key point in this article, or source, is to provide one with what is the medical

definition of anxiety and what to look for in a person, or even you, if you think you are suffering.

It goes on to list the seven different types of anxiety and what they each mean. This article also

provides the causes and treatment for anxiety. Just like depression, this one is hard to pinpoint

the exact cause of anxiety but it does list what factors will play into getting anxiety.

Mammoser, Gigen. “Social Media Increases Depression and Loneliness.” Healthline, Healthline

Media, 10 Dec. 2018, www.healthline.com/health-news/social-media-use-increases-depression-

and-loneliness

In this article, it talks about FOMO, fear of missing out, and how it correlates with mental

health and social media. “Studies have linked the use of social media to depression, anxiety

,poorer sleep quality, lower self-esteem, inattention, and hyperactivity— often in teens and

adolescents”(Mammoser 2018). I think this source does a very good job at showing how social

media does play an important role in affecting mental health in young kids and adults. I can see

this article being a little bit of an issue because while facts are listed, I believe it could be used an

a biased opinion paper.

Of Mental Health, National Institute. “What Are Personality Disorders?” What Are Personality

Disorders?, 2016, www.psychiatry.org/patients-families/personality-disorders/what-are-

personality-disorders

The key points in this source are to describe the medical definition of what exactly is a

personality disorder. There are 10 different types of personality disorders and this source does a

good job at explaining what each of these disorders mean and how it affects a person diagnosed

with this living in everyday life. It goes on to list the different warning signs and symptoms and

explains how most people diagnosed with this disorder don’t get tested and get help until they

are at least 18 years old. It mentions what key factors to play into one being diagnosed with a

personality disorder.
