Lab Exercise 3.2 – Installation – S-mount Lens and LED Light


At the end of this lab exercise, Participants will be able to:
· Assemble a reader and the associated accessories
· Connect the cables to their appropriate connectors

The Participant will utilize the following DataMan Functions to successfully complete this
exercise:
· Step by step instructions in this lab
· Tools provided for assembling the reader and S-Mount/M12 along with the LED light

Assembling the Reader and Accessories Place the flat side of the LED rubber gasket onto the reader body and then plug

If the lens has not been focused skip to step 5.


3. Rubber ring – Once the lens has been focused – performed in Section 2 Lab 2b,
press the rubber ring onto the lens so it seats inside the reader’s larger diameter
threaded hole with the rubber tab at approximately 45 degrees. (Between 1 and 3
o’clock position) or 6 o’clock position to avoid compressing components on the
LED board.
5. Loosen the 5M bolt to adjust the tilt/angle of the bracket.
6. Tilt the reader out of the way and Mount it to the Bar.
7. Tilt the reader so that the lens is pointing in the direction of the Field of View.

8. Tighten the 5 M bolt.


NOTE: We will come back to adjust the tilt once we have the setup tool software
open on the Laptop or PC.
9. Connect the Power /I/O cable to the Reader (Black cable).
The Red and Black wire in the Flying leads are for power (24 volts), Red (+) Black
(-).
10. Connect the Ethernet cable to the Reader (Teal cable).
RJ-45 connector to a network switch or laptop/PC.
11. Verify the power LEDs on the Reader is indicating power is on.

This completes the lab for assembling and connecting cables to a reader for Installation.
