working capital facilities. All SSIs engaged or proposed to be engaged in legally permissible
process/service activity are eligible for financial assistance. Among other sources for raising
finance is National Small Industries Corporation Limited (NSIC) which gives machinery, indig-
enous and imported, on hire-purchase and leasing basis besides extending assistance (includ-
ing financial) for procurement of raw material, imported and indigenous, and for sale to govern-
ment agencies. For margin money which is the amount of money that one has to invest in the
project from his own sources, there are a number of schemes through which partially or
