Questions to Shaikh Muhammad Sa’eed Raslaan [may Allâh preserve

him]

Q1: Oh! Noble Shaikh we have a publication here in America called Al-Hujjah Publication please
advise us on what should be our focal point to our English speaking brothers and sisters in the
west?
A1: Spreading the correct understanding of Islâm mainly in Aqeedah, Manhaj, and Fiqh of the
religion and etiquettes of the Muslim when dealing with himself and others.

Q2: Oh! Noble Shaikh, please advise us on how we should conduct ourselves here in America as
far as working together for the Dawah?
A2: Firstly: I advise you with the Taqwa of Allâh in secret and in the open.
As Allâh says:
〈 ∩⊇⊃⊄∪ ©!$# (#θà)®?$# (#θãΨtΒ#u™ t⎦⎪Ï%©!$# $pκš‰r'¯≈tƒ ®
“O you who believe fear Allâh.”
[Al-i-'Imran 102]

Secondly: you should deal with each other with forgiveness and patients and good compartment
just as Allâh says:

〈 ∩⊇⊂⊆∪ š⎥⎫ÏΖÅ¡ósßϑø9$#

“Those who spend their wealth in good and bad times, those suppress the anger and rage,
and those who pardon the people.”
[Al-i-'Imran 134]

And He says:

〈 ∩⊇∈®∪ ( y7Ï9öθym ô⎯ÏΒ (#θ‘ÒxΡ]ω É=ù=s)ø9$# xá‹Î=xî $ˆàsù |MΨä. öθs9uρ ( öΝßγs9 |MΖÏ9 «!$# z⎯ÏiΒ 7πyϑômu‘ $yϑÎ6sù ®

“By the mercy of your Lord you were gentle to them, had you been harsh and hard hearted the
truly would have fled from around you.”
[Al-i-'Imran 159]

Also to advise your brother when he makes a personally mistake and not to talk about him behind
his back keeping his wealth, blood and honor sacred. Advising him of whatever his mistake was
with kindness and gentleness.

Q3: Oh! Noble Shaikh, What is the responsibility of the men in facilitating a sanctuary for their
women and children [i.e. a place for recreation and enjoyment for the women and children] and
how should they go about it?
A3: This is good if it is done in accordance to the Islâmic principles. As far as going about it you
guys are better aware of your situation then me, what is important is not to oppose the Qur’ân and
Sunnah in your affairs by staying away from the prohibitions of Islâm in regards to mingling the
sexes and other than that from that which is well known to you guys.

Q4: Oh! Noble Shaikh, What is the role of women in rectifying the society?
A4: The role of the women is very important, rather it is the most important role in the society
because women are the first educators to the children in regards to commanding them with the
good and forbidding them from evil.
Also, the women advise their husband’s with the good in a good manner; just as she does with
those who are her sisters in the deen. And other then that from the many roles the women plays in
the society.

Q5: Oh! Noble Shaikh, many Muslims in the west disassociate themselves from Muslims who have
no knowledge or do not understand the way of the Salaf. Note! We are the minority in this
country; so should we take the position to boycott them or to have patients in calling them to the
correct way?
A5: You should not help Shaitân against your brother by leaving him to the disbeliever and the
deviant Muslims. Rather, you should be patient with him and try to clarify the truth to him or
take him to someone who can, wanting to increase the ranks of Ahlus-Sunnah and do not want to
decrease them.
As Allâh says:

〈 ∩⊂∪ Î ö9¢Á9$$Î/ (#öθ|¹#uθs?uρ Èd,ysø9$$Î/ (#öθ|¹#uθs?uρ ÏM≈ysÎ=≈¢Á9$# (#θè=Ïϑtãuρ (#θãΖtΒ#u™ t⎦⎪Ï%©!$# ®

“Those who believe [in Islâmic Monotheism] and do righteous good deeds, and recommend one
another to the truth [i.e. order one another to perform all kinds of good deeds [Al-Ma'ruf] which
Allâh has ordained, and abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds [Al-Munkar which Allâh has
forbidden], and recommend one another to patience [for the sufferings, harms, and injuries which
one may encounter in Allâh's Cause during preaching His religion of Islâmic Monotheism or
Jihâd].”
[Al-'Asr :3]

Q6: Oh! Noble Shaikh, What is the difference between Hasid and Gyra?
A6: Gyra: Is to become angry for the Deen of Allâh when it has been violated.
Hasid: It wants to see a bounty that Allâh has bestowed upon an individual removed from them.

So in essence, that envier hate what Allâh loves and loves what Allâh hates, since Allâh wants that
bounty to be bountiful for that individual, while the envier hates that bounty for that individual to
have.
Q7: Oh! Noble Shaikh, Can a woman who is a virgin marry a man without her Wali’s approval?
A7: No women can marry any man except with a Wali, whether she is a virgin or have been
married before, as Allâh says:

〈 ∩⊄∈∪ £⎯ÎγÎ=÷δr& ÈβøŒÎ*Î/ £⎯èδθßsÅ3Ρ$$sù ®

“Wed them with the permission of their own folk [guardians, Auliyâ' or masters]”
[An-Nisaa :25]

Q8: Oh! Noble Shaikh what is the difference between Hizbiyyah and Taqleed?

A8: Hizbiyyah is loyalty and obedience to someone or some group or people even if it goes against
the Qur’ân and the Sunnah, even if they be the companions of the Prophet , like in the Hadeeth
of the two companions that were arguing one was from the Ansar and the other was from the
Muhâjirûn and each one began to call for aid from their groups [Muhâjirûn and Ansari], and the
Prophet , called that the call of Jaahiliyyah [pre-Islâmic era], and that it stunk; even though they
were his noble companions. As far as blind following then it is following the scholars of Islâm in
their opinions and verdicts and that is permissible as long as you know their proofs and it doesn’t
oppose the Book and the Sunnah. Allâhu A'lam.

Q9: Oh! Noble Shaikh how important is it for us as Muslims to learn the Arabic language and
how should one go about it?

A9: It is obligatory on every Muslim to learn the Arabic language to the degree of that which he or
she needs to worship his Lord Tabaraka wa ta’alla. Then it is obligatory upon someone or some
group of people to learn the Arabic language proficiently in order to teach it and the religion to
the believers and if that is done it save the rest of the Ummah from the sin of not having someone
to teach the people the religion. That is done by seeking Allah's help and assistance, then
memorizing the Qur’ân and having a good teacher of the Arabic language and much determination
and patience.

Q10: Oh! Noble Shaikh should the Muslims in America join the armed forces?

A10: No!

Q11: Oh! Noble Shaikh in regards to differences of opinions the people do not know how to
come to the stronger of the two what do they do in this situation?

A11: That is done by asking the Ulama and they will make it clear to you which position is
correct. Allâh says:

〈 ∩⊆⊂∪ tβθçΗs>÷ès? Ÿω óΟçGΨä. βÎ) Ìø.Ïe%!$# Ÿ≅÷δr& (#þθè=t↔ó¡sù ®

“Ask the people of reminder if you don’t know.”
[An-Nahl: 43]

Q12: Oh! Noble Shaikh what books should we focus on regarding education and cultivation for
our women and children?

A12: The books of Sheikh Ibn Qayyim, Ibn Baaz and Uthaymeen [may Allâh have mercy on
them].

Q13: Oh! Noble Shaikh how should we advise the people regarding taking knowledge from books
alone?

A13: That their mistakes will be greater than their correctness. Knowledge is with the Ulama
firstly. Reading books is secondly along with consulting the scholars about what you have read.
The scholars see what is hidden behind the pages that the book cannot tell you. Allâhu A'lam.
