Reading Comprehension
Read the following story and select correct options to answer the questions that follow.

Mr. Cook’s dog, Rover, followed him wherever he went. He spent the entire day waiting
patiently for Mr. Cook, outside his office. Before turning in at night, they would go for a stroll
along the beach, enjoying the sea breeze and the sounds of the waves lapping gently against
the shore. Rover was Mr. Cook’s faithful companion.

Rover was an obedient dog who listened to all of Mr. Cook’s instructions. He could sit, beg and
lie down when Mr. Cook told him to. When Rover felt playful, he ran in circles around Mr.
Cook, barking and jumping on him. However, Mr. Cook never treated Rover harshly. He
ruffled his fur and talked gently to him.

Mr. Cook lived alone in a bungalow and Rover helped to take care of him. He got up early each
day and woke Mr. Cook up by nestling his head against Mr. Cook’s body. Sometimes, Rover
licked Mr. Cook on his hand to wake him up. Mr. Cook always prepared a bowl of dog food and
a bowl of water for Rover for breakfast. Rover sat at his owner’s feet, gobbling down his food
while Mr. Cook ate his breakfast and listened to the news on the radio.

The two of them were inseparable. Mr. Cook could not imagine life without his pet. He needed
him to move around. Rover was his pair of eyes.
