Onward Philippines!
Brush up Change is constant and, more often, inevitable. Do we look
forward to it? Hopefully, for the betterment of all of us, including
the whole of mother earth. If you recall history of education in the
world, there have been so many changes. Just look at the basic
education curriculum; it has changed over the years and tertiary
education. Early geniuses were even asked to stop attending
regular classes, mainly because there were odd, not “normal.”
One can just imagine the struggles for those who were far below
the “normal” learner as to the ability to socialize, to speak, to
think, to act, to hear, to see, etcetera.

Read the materials below and describe the components of special and inclusive
education (placement, accommodations and curricular modification, parent involvement,
and assessment). Organize your notes in an appropriate graphic organizer. Your
graphic organizer will be rated using the same rubrics for graphic organizer.

Write a one-page reflection paper on your task in organizing your notes on the
components of special and inclusive education.

Reflection:

Learning is fun especially when it involves a task that requires collaboration with the
other students. Earlier, we were given the task of organizing notes using an appropriate
graphic organizer, in pairs. The task was actually nice because it allows us to
brainstorm and share ideas with our partners. However, it was a little bit difficult since
we need to carefully jot down the important highlights of the lesson. It requires careful
analyzation and the ability to comprehend the printed texts.

Honestly, the first time we were given a task like this---- taking down notes and putting it
in a graphic organizer, we were clueless about the reason on why we need to put the
key words and key phrases in a graphic organizer when in fact we can directly write it
down on a piece of paper or notebook, later on we realized why. We realized that
graphic organizer is actually helpful in remembering important points of the lesson as it
depicts visual representation of the concepts and processes that are relevant to the
topic. Graphic organizer helps us turn the complex information into a simple and more
understandable form.

As we do our task of jotting down important information about the topic which is the
components of special and inclusive education, we were able to discuss and construct
understanding about what we have and written. At first, the lesson appears to be a little
bit confusing on our part but after doing the task, we were able to finally make
adjustments and connections to how the entire topic pieces together. After finishing the
task, we finally understood and familiarize a lot of educational terminologies and key
concepts that appears to be very difficult to comprehend before. The task helped us
improve our skills in organizing our thoughts as well as our communication skills since
the task requires teamwork. We have acquired important learnings and realizations
about our course specifically with our recent topic, the task makes it easier for us to
understand the lesson very well.

Other than that, the aforementioned activity taught us the essence and value of
teamwork and constant communication. We were able to finish the task despite of our
current situation. This shows that distance is not a hindrance to learn. We were able to
think critically and generate ideas about the topic amidst several factors that might
affect our determination to finish the task. The knowledge that we learned from the
concept notes and the realizations that we have gained from the given activity can be a
big help in the preparation for our future field of disciplines.
