FIELD TO FINISH (PART I)

COLLECTING SURVEY DATA WITH TRIMBLE TSC UNITS

AND PROCESSING FOR CAiCE

Collect data as you would normally do, but use only MDOT codes. Contact MDOT to obtain a list of their
Data Collection codes.

For CAiCE formatting you do not need to use any special codes to start a line. Simply code the line and add
a number to the code e.g. BC1, GUT1, etc. Keep in mind that once you start a line you have no option to
end it. Also, that line will carry on for the rest of the data collection for that day. See Appendix ‘A’ for
example.

Comments/descriptions can be added to the code. Comments are separated by a comma right after the code,
but comments cannot have commas in them.

Process Trimble DC and obtain a CSV (Comma Separated Values).

Make sure you have installed MDOT’s Tugboat (see figure 2) and are using CAiCE’s service pack 8 (see
figure 1). CAiCE service packs can be obtained from http://www.autodesk.com
