Artificial intelligence

(AI), sometimes called machine intelligence,

is intelligence demonstrated by machines, unlike the natural intelligence displayed
by humans and animals. Leading AI textbooks define the field as the study of "intelligent
agents": any device that perceives its environment and takes actions that maximize its
chance of successfully achieving its goals.[1] Colloquially, the term "artificial intelligence"
is often used to describe machines (or computers) that mimic "cognitive" functions that
humans associate with the human mind, such as "learning" and "problem solving".[2]

The Future of Artificial Intelligence in Pakistan

Though Pakistan has taken steps to use AI-based solutions in a number of

arenas such as environment conservation, water conservation, human
interaction, medical advancement, digital optimization and business
profitability, yet, education appears to be an area which has been overlooked
for the most part. Although, the Higher Education of Pakistan (in collaboration
with the government of Pakistan) has begun an AI project worth 1.1 billion
rupees whereby it has partnered with six leading universities of the country,
however, no efforts have yet been taken to bring this technology into
classrooms.

Private organizations such as Jazz have started initiatives along these lines,

but Pakistan needs to dig deeper into this field and investigate ways in which
AI tools can become accessible and can fill gaps in Pakistan’s education
system.

These gaps seem even more apparent in the crisis which befalls us all today.
No country in the world was prepared for this global pandemic but developing
countries like Pakistan seem the least equipped to battle this storm. In the
wake of this storm, however, we will have several lessons to learn. One of
those lessons should be to make our educational system technologically
competent and to make our people digitally literate. AI tools have a crucial role
to play in this regard. Policy makers, educators, software developers and
researchers all need to butt their heads together and think of ways in which
our education system can reap the most benefits out of artificial
intelligence and technology.

Artificial Intelligence and its scope in

Pakistan
Artificial Intelligence is a dominant subject that is broadly addressed in technology and
marketing cliques. Many specialists and enterprise analysts around the globe argue that AI is
the future but if we observe around, it is dawned on us that it’s not the future — it is the
present. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a wide-range discipline of Computer Science that aims to
stimulate human intelligence processes in machines i.e computer systems. Pakistan is presently
concentrating on making progress towards the state of the art technologies, and our current
government is well aware of it as they are working for the youth and looking progressive to
digitize our beloved country Pakistan.

Artificial Intelligence
The scope of Artificial Intelligence in Pakistan has risen due to national initiatives like the
Presidential Initiative for Artificial Intelligence & Computing (PIAIC).
This initiative is also rendering a trio of courses other than AI which is Blockchain, Internet of
Things, and CloudNative and Mobile Web Computing. The course of AI consists of three
fundamental disciplines i.e Data Science, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning.
In this AI program, a trainee will be able to know the foundations of AI and how to deploy the
AI solution and all the other work in practice. So, if you are optimistic to step in the new era of
computing enabled by the rise of Artificial Intelligence, sign up yourself for an AI program and
different other IT programs in the current PIAIC.
The mission of PIAIC is to reshape Pakistan by revolutionizing education, research, and business
by adopting the latest, cutting-edge technologies.
The introduction of AI in our education is essential to equip our next generation with AI
fundamentals, basic programming, and digital skills. Pakistan Education Department is now at a
quicker pace towards introducing AI into its scientific and technical study programs, for this
purpose different universities throughout the country have started implementing AI and
Robotics research laboratories where the students can learn, develop, deploy, experience, and
practice AI skills. The following are some of the distinguished research centers that are
contributing to the overall AI development in Pakistan:
National Center of Artificial Intelligence-Islamabad
Artificial Intelligence Research Laboratory-Lahore
Research Center for Artificial Intelligence-Karachi
Robotics and Automation Research Laboratory-Peshawar

Artificial Intelligence and Education
In the world of science and technology, it is very important to furnish ourselves with the latest
methods, techniques, and technologies in order to surpass competitive countries in this field.
Pakistan is one of the glorious countries with great IT manpower and the AI program in Pakistan
is called a future subject.
And so, there is immense scope for the degree holder of AI to get an excellent job with an
elegant salary package. In Pakistan, many jobs are available in initial and professional stages
such as an AI Expert, Robotics Process Analyst, AI Interaction Designer, Cognitive Copywriter,
and many more will be in the pipeline in the upcoming time.

AI is the Future!
In a nutshell, Artificial Intelligence is gaining reputation very swiftly in Pakistan, changing the
way we live, interact, and perform our day to day tasks. Hopefully, the upcoming time will bring
more opportunities in the field of AI and Robotics for Pakistan.
