OVERVIEW OF LEARNING ACTIVITIES
Previously, the learners were able to use and identify modals that express permission, obligation, and
prohibition in sentences. Aside from this, they also learned about the difference between verbs, adjectives, and
adverbs and how they are used to convey an emotional response in an issue.

In this activity, they will apply what they have learned in this quarter. They are expected to identify modals, verbs,
adjectives, and adverbs used in a reading material.
ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
Knowledge
Learners identify the modals, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs used in a reading material.

Skills
1. identify sentences/phrases that used modals, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs.
2. show appreciation on the importance of using modals, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs in giving information
like in newspapers and magazines.
3. cite newspaper and magazine clippings that used modals, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs.

Mechanics:
1. Find old newspaper and used magazines at home.
2. Cite for the modals, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs used. Clip and cut them, then paste it in a bond paper.
3. After that, underline the modals, box the verbs, circle the adverbs, and color the adjectives.
4. Present it in a brochure type output.
