ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
TECHNICAL BRANCH

(a) Gender: Both Men & Women are eligible to apply.

(b) Age Limit: 18 to 28 years as on 01 Jul 2011 (Born between 02 Jul 1983 and 01 Jul
1993) (Both dates inclusive).

(c) Educational Qualification:

(i) Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics): AE(L)

Candidates applying for AE (L) branch would be eligible if they have undergone a
minimum of four year degree qualification and secured a minimum of 60% marks in
all papers put together from a recognised university or cleared section A and B
examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or
Aeronautical Society of India or Graduate membership examination of the Institute of
Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers by actual studies provided the
candidate has studied at least eight subjects out of the list of eighteen subjects :-

(1) Physics / Engineering Physics


(2) Mathematics / Engineering Mathematics
(3) Engineering Graphics / Engineering Drawing
(4) Electrical Engineering / Electrical Technology
(5) Control Engineering
(6) Microprocessors
(7) Digital Electronics / Basic Electronics
(8) Computer Networks
(9) Information Technology
(10) Network Theory Design
(11) Telecommunication Systems
(12) Electronic Circuit Design
(13) Radar Theory
(14) Switching Theory
(15) Instrumentation
(16) Microwave Engineering
(17) Antenna and Wave Propagation
(18) Electronic Devices

(ii) Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics): AE(M)

Candidates applying for AE (M) branch would be eligible if they have undergone a
minimum of four year degree qualification and secured a minimum of 60% marks in
all papers put together from a recognised university or cleared section A and B
examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or
Aeronautical Society of India by actual studies with at least eight subjects out of the
list of eighteen subjects :-

(1) Physics / Engineering Physics


(2) Engineering Maths / Mathematics
(3) Engineering Drawing / Graphics
(4) Automotive Engineering / Plant Engineering / Industrial Engineering
(5) Engineering Mechanics / Strength of Material
(6) Aerodynamics
(7) Thermodynamics and Applications / Heat Power Engineering
(8) Heat and Mass Transfer
(9) Theory of Machines (Kinematics and Dynamics of Machinery)
(10) Fluid Mechanics / Turbo Machines
(11) Flight Mechanics
(12) Machine Drawing / Machine Design
(13) Mechatronics
(14) Material Science / Metallurgy
(15) Vibrations
(16) Workshop Technology / Manufacturing Technology / Production Engineering
(17) Hydraulics and Pneumatics
(18) Aircraft Structures

Candidates appearing in final year/semester examinations may also apply provided


they fulfil the following conditions:-
(i) Candidates should not have any present backlog and should have secured a
minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together upto the last
semester / year for which results have been declared at the time of applying / AFSB
testing.
(ii) Candidates should be able to provide provisional / original degree certificate
issued by University latest by 15 Jun 2011.
(d) Physical Standards:
Height and Weight: Minimum height : Men – 157.5 Cms, women – 152 Cms
with correlated weight. Other additional medical criteria would be evaluated by the
Air Force Medical Authorities whose decision on the fitness would be final.
(e) Type of Commission. Permanent Commission (PC) / Short Service Commission
(SSC) for men & Short Service Commission (SSC) for women.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
FLYING BRANCH

(a) Gender: Both Men & Women are eligible to apply.

(b) Age Limit: 19 to 23 years as on 01 Jul 2011 (Born between 02 Jul 1988 and 01 Jul
1992)

(c) Educational Qualification: Graduates (Three year degree course) in any discipline
from a recognised university who have attained minimum 60% marks in aggregate in all
papers put together and have passed Maths and Physics at 10+2 level OR BE / BTech
degree (Four year course) from a recognised university with minimum 60% marks in
aggregate in all papers put together.

Candidates appearing in final year / semester examinations may also apply provided they
fulfil the following conditions:-
(i) Candidates should not have any present backlog and should have secured a
minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together upto the last
semester / year for which results have been declared at the time of applying / AFSB
testing.
(ii) Candidates should be able to provide provisional / original degree certificate
issued by University latest by 15 Jun 2011.
(d) Physical Standards:
(i) Height and Weight: Minimum height - 162.5 cms with correlated weight and leg
length in the range of 99 cms (Min) and 120 cms (Max).
(ii) Vision: (a) Visual Acuity 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other, correctable to 6/6 only
for hypermetropia. (b) Manifest Myopia - Nil. (c) LASIK Surgery for correction of
vision is admissible in Transport and Helicopter streams of Short Service
Commission (Flying Branch) if the following conditions are fulfilled at the time of Air
Force medical examination:- (i) LASIK Surgery should not have been carried out
before the age of 20 years. (ii) The axial length of the eye should not be more than
25.5 mm as measured by IOL master. (iii) At least twelve months should have
lapsed post uncomplicate stable LASIK. No history or evidence of any complication.
(iv) The post LASIK corneal thickness as measured by a corneal pachymeter should
not be less than 450 microns. (v) Individuals with high refractive errors (>6D) prior to
LASIK are to be excluded. Candidates must not suffer from colour or night
blindness.
(iii) Other additional medical criteria would be evaluated by the Air Force Medical
Authorities whose decision on the fitness would be final.
(e) Type of Commission. Short Service Commission (SSC) for men and women
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
METEOROLOGY BRANCH

1. Gender: Both Men & Women are eligible to apply.

2. Age Limit: 20- 25 Years (as on 01 Jul 2011) i.e. Born between 02 Jul 1986 to
01 Jul 1991. (Both dates inclusive).

3. Educational Qualification:

Post Graduate Degree in any Science / Mathematics / Statistics / Geography / Computer


Applications / Environmental Science / Applied Physics / Oceanography / Agricultural
Meteorology / Ecology & Environment / Geo-physics / Environmental Biology with minimum
of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers put together (Provided Maths and Physics were
studied at Graduation Level, with a minimum of 55% marks in both).

Candidates appearing in final year/semester examinations of above mentioned PG


courses may also apply provided they fulfill the following conditions:-
(a) Candidates should not have any present backlog and should have secured a
minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in all papers put together upto the last
semester / year for which results have been declared at the time of applying / AFSB
testing.
(b) Candidates should be able to provide provisional / original degree certificate
issued by University latest by 15 Jun 2011.
4 Physical Standards:
(a) Height and Weight: Minimum height : Men – 157.5 Cms, Women – 152 Cms
with correlated weight.
(b) Other additional medical criteria would be evaluated by the Air Force Medical
Authorities whose decision on the fitness would be final.

Note: Age limit for the candidates having M.Ed / Ph.D degree would be 20 to 27 years as
on 01 Jul 2011 (born between 02 Jul 1984 to 01 Jul 1991)
