PROBLEM STATEMENT

The together mode in Microsoft teams has brought in a lot on to the plate to help the
students catch verbal and non-verbal clues from their teachers and batch-mates and bring
about a holistic learning experience for them. The introduction of chairs and whiteboards
with sticky notes features adds cheery to the cake not only giving the atmosphere for the
children but also a better understanding for them. The twelve to fifteen age group students
are benefiting a lot by the steps taken by Microsoft Teams to help them in this front. But
there is an area where Microsoft Team can work upon to enhance the experience of the user
further.
The children learn a lot from their friend as well and this virtual setting has made it difficult
for them in that aspect. Microsoft has tried to overcome this problem with the facility of
breakout rooms for group discussion activities but there can be more steps that can be taken
to improve the user experience and facilitate this learning process making it efficient and
seamless. Also this age group prefers the reflector learning technique where they learn by
example and this is a major area that can be worked upon as there is change in this and
students are forced towards theoretic learning style. Thus for the children preferring
reflector learning style it has become a tuff journey in this virtual setting. Microsoft can take
steps towards addressing this problem as the majority students will be benefited with this
thus Microsoft can be a game changer in this implementation of the preferred learning style
for the children giving them a personalized experience and improved learning.

IDENTIFIED PROBLEMS WITH THE EXISTING FEATURES

Limited video conferencing capabilities (only up to 9 users can be displayed on screen during a
meeting, the layouts are not flexible, etc).Limited interoperability with third-party video
conferencing solutions. Subscription to Microsoft Office Suite is needed. Data safety risks due to
the fact that Microsoft Teams is a cloud-based platform. You are unable to edit text files. If you
are trying to copy or move file, of your window is the wrong size it will show you a list of recent
files instead of your directory tree when selecting the destination. Cannot share screen in Linux.
You can’t delete or move an entire directory. It is built on top of Sharepoint, and the two
applications to do not always keep track of changes between them. Many companies go with
slack for the in numerous ways it can be integrated, teams can be integrated the same way as
well, however most of the startup companies distrust Microsoft as they gravitate towards open
source. Organization can control the access of your account. As long as it comes from their
server the school will always know everything you do. We cannot add students, without id.
Everyone one should have microsoft account to get into the teams.MS Teams can be used for
online teaching. Every professor creates Teams where his account is owner and adds the students
as members. Professor can rename his space on Teams as per subject i.e. 1. Math and create
different channels per chapter of subject i.e. 1.1 Fractions, 1.2 Equations, 1.3 Geometry. By
default each Teams has a General Channel which can be used for engaging everybody in the
group in communication. For school subscriptions there’s an option for assignments where
teachers assign homework. There’s a calendar where you can schedule virtual meetings, you can
also create a group chat and call them directly without going through calendar schedule. This
platform is efficient and engages students with virtual face-to-face connections and activities,
stores the document on repositories, set up a remote lunch to keep classrooms connected and
having fun.

GOAL

The goal where we would like to reach on is providing a personalised learning experience for to
the children gauging on their preferred learning style and providing an interface between the
teacher and students for a better learning experience and bridging the gap between the students
and school. With a better interface the students will be more comfortable in accessing the
Microsoft Team application and thus getting a near perfect learning structure making the
Microsoft Team the preferred platform for virtual classes. This will also facilitate the peer to peer
network and learning among the students helping the students get easy access to concepts they
have doubts in to clear.

SUCCESS METRIC

The success metric for the features mentioned by us are the ease of access of the interface of
Microsoft Team for the students making it user friendly and also easily customizable according
to the students need and requirements. Another success metric is the personalized learning
experience for the children bridging the gap between the students and teachers and proving a
near classroom experience in the virtual mode. However, implementing these features should
make the user interface complex and it shouldn’t be like filling our plate with too many eggs.
We would like to provide the features that make user experience more fulfilling. We also don’t
want to hamper with the student security features already present in the Microsoft Teams as we
believe that they are necessary for an effective delivery system of the lessons by the teacher to
the students.
