NOTE
In fault detection, check all relevant connectors for bad contacts, contact resistance and oxidation. For a more detailed
description of fault detection of cables and connectors, see separate service information under group 371.
Do not use the chassis as earth when making measurements. Use the earth plate in the electrical distribution centre.
Measurement points in brackets gives terminals in connectors.
Tools 9998603 and 9998596 have been changed, seeChanges to special tools
Note: Faults in the cable harness to the control unit can damage the component. Therefore, check also the component
if any measured values deviate.

Adapter 9998603/2 with measurement box 9998551 connected between the footbrake valve and the cable harness.
Voltage measurement.
Starting key in the drive position.

Voltage measurement.
Starting key in the drive position.

Conditions:
Adapter 9998603/2 with measurement box 9998551 connected between the footbrake valve and the cable harness.
Voltage measurement.
Starting key in the drive position.
Brake pedal released.
Component check
Note: A fault in the component can have been caused by a fault in the cable harness. Therefore, carry out a check of
the cable harness before connecting a new component.
Conditions:
Adapter 9998603/2 and measurement box 9998551 connected to the footbrake valve.
Cable harness disconnected.
Measuring resistance using a multimeter.
Starting key in the stop position.
Brake pedal released.
Measurements towards the footbrake valve.

Verification
In order to check that the fault has been rectified use tests in VCADS Pro (seeTests that can be carried out in the PC
tool).
Road test and check that the warning lights extinguish, read fault codes and check that no new fault codes are set.
