Guide questions

(Overview on Development Planning)

1. Given the discussion of the topic “development” (Slides no. 3

and 4), do you think we (as people) have already attained
development? Why?
No, because inequality is still very apparent in our country. Poverty is
still menacing. Marginalized individual and oppressed individual are still
lurking somewhere without having any modification at all. Development is far
to attain as of now.

2. Where is the difficulty?

a. In us (people)? Why?
In us, majority is denied by the opportunity of education. Thus, this
difficulty leads to jobless individual and unproductive citizens. This
case alone is indeed an obstacle to attain development. Citizens well-
being and situation is the first thing to consider if we scale
development.

b. In the limitations in the social and economic

environment? What are these limitations?
The difficulty in social and economic environment is the limited and
unequal sharing of resources. Accompanied with the increasing growth
of population that makes the situation more complicated that needs
an immediate solution.
c. In the systems and processes? What are these?
In terms of difficulty in the system or process, one example of
that is the limited public healthcare system, not only in terms of quality
but inaccessibility too. The high mortality rate is recorded since a lot of
us can't afford decent health care. Maybe because we don't have
enough manpower such as doctors and nurses because of the
insufficient wage they earned that would look like they are
underemployed.

3. Have we planned for our development as a people? As a

country?
However, the government has this present Philippine Development
Plan which aims to empower the poor and marginalized, push for improved
transparency and accountability in governance, and fuel the economy.
Specifically, growth shall be more inclusive by lowering poverty incidence in
the rural areas, more jobs shall be created, making individuals and
communities more resilient, driving innovation, and building greater trust in
government and society. Thus, this project would be paved the way for our
development if implemented wisely.

4. What have we done? Or what are we doing to attain

development?
In order to attain development, we must have a competent and nationalistic
government. Since, it is a body system that rules the state and responsible for the
well-being of its constituents. The current state of a nation depends on what kind of
government system it has.
