Sustainable HGI
Ecotainer™ Cup:
Ecotainer™ cup at every Hilton Garden Inn globally. The ecotainer is lined with a bio-plastic made from the
renewable resource of corn that is fully biodegradable and 100% compostable; whereas conventional cups are lined
with a petroleum-based plastic that will never dissolve (or erode) even after being discarded.

Pavilion Pantry Innoware Eco Containers:


HGI Pavilion Pantry’s in North America will be offering our new “Fresh” to go items – sandwiches and salads – packed
in Innoware Eco containers. Developed from annual renewable plant starches, the production of these containers
uses 40-50% less petroleum and emits less carbon dioxide and therefore fewer green house gases. This product is
also 100% compostable.

Recycled Paper:
All paper napkins are made from 100% recycled paper. We also print all of our marketing materials on recycled
paper: elevator posters, breakfast coupons, mini-directory of HGI locations, guest room comfort guides.

Recycled Room Keys:


Our latest room key cards have been printed from materials that include a blend of pre and/or post-consumer
recycled plastic.
Sustainable HGI
Water Conservation:
Our “Green Program --Conserve to Preserve” asks our guests when they would like their sheets and towels changed with the
use of a simple card – one on the bedside table and one on the towel rack. We save millions of gallons of fresh water a month
while also reducing waste water and the use of chemicals and energy resources.

Energy Efficient Lighting:


Several years ago we implemented energy efficient lighting in our guestrooms. By using state-of-the-art compact fluorescent
and other lighting technology, we provide an environment that our guests desire while significantly reducing our use of the
natural resources that are utilized to power these products. This has allowed us to conserve millions of watts of electricity, on an
annualized basis, without impacting the comfort of our guests.

Neutrogena® Bath Products:


The bottles, caps and labels are made of PET plastic which is 100% recyclable. The labels used on the bottles and the cardboard
are printed in soy-based ink that is 100% biodegradable. The Liquid Formula (98.5%) & Soap Formulas (99%) are made from
naturally derived ingredients and are phosphate, gluten and wheat free. Not tested on animals. The cardboard cartons are made
from virgin chipboard (cardboard) that 100% biodegradable and made from a 100% annually renewable energy source. Virgin
cardboard consumes less energy to produce than recycled cardboard and is a fully renewable raw material.

The HGI exterior signs are virtually 100% LED which is environmentally friendly

Garden Sleep System Bed®:
Our bed is incredibly unique, not just from a comfort standpoint but that it is sustainable and completely recyclable! First,
our bed is componentized. Each portion - wool cover, foam comfort layer, inflation systems and foam shell -can be
replaced over time so the entire mattress will never end up in a land fill, like with a traditional spring mattress. With
replacements as needed, this mattress will last a lifetime. When new pieces are needed, we can do the following with
them: The wool and fabric cover can be recycled into rags. b. The foam components are ground up and recycled into
carpet padding. c. The urethane from the tubes and the harness can be re-manufactured into urethane for other purposes.

Herman Miller Mirra® Chair:


The desk chair found in all HGI guest rooms is a sustainable design. Mirra is made of a minimal number of parts and is easily
disassembled for recycling; the recycled content is high, and it's 96 percent recyclable.

National Gardening Association: North America


Since, 2002 Hilton Garden Inn has been committed to the idea that gardens are learning environments and established a
relationship with the National Gardening Association (NGA) to develop a community outreach program to teach children
about the many facets of gardening and its importance to the global environment. The NGA worked with Hilton Garden Inn
to develop the “Grow A School Garden” program along with the special education packages, that contain all of the tools
necessary for hotel team members and the participating schools to grow an indoor or outdoor garden. The Hilton Garden
Inn “Grow A School Garden” project uses a hands-on approach and teaches participants, both young an old, about
environmental responsibility, nutrition and healthy eating and the benefits of gardening—while also instilling a sense of
pride and ownership in the plants, vegetables, herbs and flowers planted.
