TRADITIONAL DANCES

 are dances of indigenous communities that show cultural traits of peoples in specific time
and place.
 these dances are handed down by generation to generation, with fixed sets and patterns.

A. National- dances with common basic movements with slight variations.

B. Local/regional – dances that are unique to certain localities only.

ETHNIC DANCE

 refers to a dance that comes from a specific cultural group, such as polka or flamenco.
Any dance that is connected to any particular ethnic group is considered as ethnic.
 has 2 major categories
1. NON-CHRISTIAN FILIPINOS – are made up of pagan groups and Muslim
groups
2. CHRISTIAN AND LOWLAND FILIPINOS – are comprised of savage and
vigorous or light-hearted.
 other forms have no music nor melodic accompaniment.
