Specifications for the interface Ethernet Modbus TCP

Technical data The technical data of the Ethernet module:

Transmission speed 100 Mbaud
Interface 100Base-T, zero-potential
Display Status LED
Client access max. 1 client

The protocol ModBus TCP with an RTU format and following data:
Real number format IEEE
Read input register FC3, FC4 (FC= function code)
Length Separate integer and real value range
Write multiple register FC6, FC16
Port 502

Structure of protocol Example for “requesting data“ (hex values!):

content
Request telegram actual values feeder 01 (data contents)
00 00 00 00 00 06 98 03 00 10 00 10

Number of subsequent bytes

Unit identifier
Function code (here: request data from Congrav)

Start address (address where reading starts)

Word length (number of data words to be read)

Answer from Congrav®: 00 00 00 00 00 83 98 03 20

00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
Setpoint Actual value Weight Speed Throughput Setpoint Setpoint DI

00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
Sample Auto-tare Control diff.
quantity

The answer does not indicate the “word” length (= 10) of the request but the
“byte“ length (= 20). In this example the actual values (= 10 real values) are
requested and thus sent (2x10) bytes.

Example for “sending data“:

Start of the feeder: 00 00 00 00 00 09 98 10 00 08 00 01 02 01 00
Answer from Congrav®: 00 00 00 00 00 06 98 10 00 08 00 01
