RED ARROW HIGH [WEEK 1: AUGUST 24 – 28, 2020]

Exploring Adobe Creative Suite (Computer

SCHOOL 9)

Great day! My dear learners…

I am glad to be your virtual partner upon teaching, learning and answering this
module. Look on the right side of this page; you’ll see the objectives you need to
attain at the end of week 1. If you have some queries/questions, my contact details
as your subject teacher are at the bottom of every page. Furthermore, I hope your
journey with me would be remarkable. Be reminded that I will be looking forward
on your progress. Good luck and have a great LEARNING…

Objectives:

MODULE 1: Zone 1 – Adobe Illustrator By the end of the lesson

the students should be
NODE 1 able to:
1. Learn about Adobe
Illustrator.
Let’s think and ready to learn.. 2. Familiarize oneself
with Adobe
 What are the reasons for using Adobe Illustrator.
Illustrator? 3. Learn the common
uses of Adobe
Illustrator.
INTRODUCTION 4. Learn the shortcut
commands in Adobe
Adobe Illustrator is a vector graphics made by Adobe Systems. Illustrator.
Adobe Illustrator is used for creating logos, simple graphics, cartoons,
web graphics, posters, and font enhancement.

Adobe Illustrator
was first developed in
1987, for Apple Macintosh
as a commercialization of
Adobe’s home font
development software and
PostScript file format.
Adobe Illustrator is the
partner product of Adobe
Photoshop. Photoshop is
primarily geared toward
digital photo manipulation
and photorealistic styles
of computer illustration,
while illustrator provides
results in the typesetting
and logo graphic areas of design. It introduces many new tools and
features. The file format is used in the MATLAB programming language as
an option to save figures.

The difference in strengths between Photoshop and Illustrator

became clear with the rise of the Internet; Illustrator was enhanced to
support Web publishing, rasterization previewing, PDF, and SVG (Scalable
Vector Graphics). Adobe was an early developer of SVG for the web and
Illustrator exported SVG files via the SVG File Format plugin.

Illustrator CS was the first version to include 3-dimensional capabilities allowing users
to extrude or revolve shapes to create simple 3D objects. Version CS6 was the
sixteenth generation of Adobe Illustrator. Adobe added many more features and
several bug fixes. CS6 was released on April 23, 2012.

WHY USE ILLUSTRATOR

Adobe CS Illustrator is easy to understand. Simply create logo, graphics,
cartoons, and font for photo realistic layouts.

Let us learn together!

Reasons for Using Illustrator

LOGO LIMITATIONS The size of the logo will be limited to 300ppi at actual size (100%
final size), since it is a bitmap image. This could lead to fairly large file
sizes, depending on the final size of the image.

RESOLUTION Illustrator files are resolution independent, so you can size them
INDEPENDENT without losing quality. You will always need to print in CMYK, unless you
develop a gray scale version of the logo.

SMALL AREAS OF Photoshop has a vector path tool to ease some of the limitations
FUNCTIONAL OVERLAP of selecting pixels; Illustrator is replete with raster effects to ease some of
the tedium of program-jumping to add soft-edge effects.

MULTI-PAGE In Photoshop one file can only have one page, but modern
DOCUMENTS interfaces and websites rarely consists of a single “page”. Since your
project will contain fewer files. You can re-use the same elements for
different art boards.

NOTE: Read and start to learn the

Adobe Illustrator program in different
ways on the following pages 3-13
