Renewed Relationship with How to Give

God
“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to
the fellowship, and to the breaking of bread, and to
prayer.” (Acts 2:42)
Our last few Sundays meeting with large group at
the hotel were marked with excitement at the
coming move to East North Street Baptist Church.
Our children and kids ministry volunteers
especially looked forward to the new space where
there would be some separation between different
age groups and a larger space for the nursery. We
spent this time continuing to be faithful to where God
had us by meeting with the hotel management to
extend our thanks to them for how well they served
us by being flexible and allowing a church to gather
there when many others would not. We left on a
positive note and with the knowledge that we
intentionally used our time at the hotel to not only
gather for church, but to share the gospel with the
staff that we rubbed shoulders with each Sunday.
The Disciple Experiment continued to challenge us this
month as Matt took us through more passages in
Luke where Jesus describes a true disciple of Him.
Through Luke we observed that a true disciple of
Jesus obeys the Word of God, pursues intimacy with
God, is dependent on prayer, trusts God
unconditionally, and gives generously. The hearts of
our congregation have been stirred through each of
these messages as we learn what it means to follow
Jesus with our lives. Each week attendees continued
to talk about the sermons and how God is reshaping
their view of what a disciple of Christ should be. Sin
in each of these areas has been revealed in the lives of

as he had need.” Acts 2:45

Renewed Relationships With
Each Other
“Everyday they continued to meet together in the temple
courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together
with glad and sincere hearts.” Acts 2:46
Renewal

baptism and
enjoyed
fellowship
together at the
beginning of
October. A
Sarah Mandell’s baptism

connected with Renewal opened their home and
allowed us to use their pool and backyard to baptize
and enjoy a lunch together. We rejoiced with Sarah
Mandell and her husband Josh as Sarah was
baptized in the pool, despite the chill in the air! God
is at work in the lives of those connected with
Renewal and we give Him the glory for the fruit we
see in the lives of those around us. Please continue
to pray for those who have been baptized as they
seek to grow and mature in their faith in Christ.
Fellowship with East North Street
We also enjoyed a joint fellowship with East North
Street Baptist this month at Paris Mountain State
Park. Over a great dinner of hamburgers and sides,
we were able to get to know the members of ENS
and exult in the goodness of God and His work in
our lives. We look forward to building relationships
with the ENS congregation as we serve our Lord
together.
Some of our Renewal college students from Furman
University attended their BCM Fall Retreat at Camp
McCall and Matt Rogers spoke on engaging your
mind to love God well. Furman students, who
generally are some of the best and brightest, were
challenged to trust God’s Word as truth and to use
their intellect to seek God’s wisdom instead of the

through team building activities and challenges at

It would be difficult to count the number of
volunteers, hours, resources, and donations put into
the work on our new facility at East North Street
Baptist Church. East North Street’s congregation
has gone over and above to serve our needs and
have been so gracious to us. They encourage us in
our love for other believers by how well they have
loved us and how they have joined with us and us
with them to love the community well. Partners of
both congregations came out for 3 weeks helping to
renovate the stage in the auditorium, paint and
organize nursery rooms, create a welcome center in
the lobby, and makeover bathrooms. We are
grateful for the service of all the members who gave
their time, talents, and resources to make this
transition a success.
We also are grateful to Crosspoint Church in
Crosspoint Church volunteers serving East North Street
Clemson for sending their staff team, and First
Baptist Church in Rock Hill for sending volunteers
who gave hours of their time to serve. It was
encouraging to serve side by side with people from
other churches who love Jesus, love us as fellow
believers, and who give generously to see the
kingdom of God furthered in a city different from
theirs. Thank you to everyone who served with us!

Renewed Love for Those Far
From God
“...And the Lord added to their number daily those who
were being saved.” Acts 2:47
During the month of October, Renewal was busy
getting things
ready for our new
place of
fellowship at East
North Street.
Many partners of
Renewal spent
countless hours
re-constructing,
painting,
cleaning, and

new facility. Each of the small groups came in to
work together and accomplish specific tasks. It was
a joyous time for us to serve within our own body
and meet the needs that we had for Renewal.
On October 30th, we had a time to prayer walk the
surrounding areas of East North Street. It was a
great turn out of Renewal partners who showed up
to pray over the new place where God has placed us
to serve. There were several partners who had a
chance to share with many of the nearby neighbors.
Later that evening, many partners returned to join
the congregation of East North Street to conduct a
“Trunk-A-Treat” event. There were lots of great
activities for families to participate in such as: a
chili cook-off, a bon-fire, inflatables for the children
to jump in, a hayride, and many cars for the
children to trick-or-treat. A few of Renewal’s
leaders were meeting those that were in attendance
and giving them information about Renewal
Church. 
Despite the many views there are on participating in
Halloween, it is one of the few nights of the year
where neighbors are out in abundance. Many
Renewal partners welcomed their neighbors into
their homes on this night, passed out apple cider
and hot chocolate to parents, and candy to their
children. We greatly enjoyed this time getting to
know our neighbors and building relationships for
the purpose of sharing the gospel with them in the
future.
