EXECUTIVE SUMMARY (HANDIG)

KamiKali Co. is a manufacturing business that produces


ecological friendly staples. The company is currently based in the
University of the East Manila (UE Manila) POD Building but service is not
limited to campus as it extends its product offers in the whole country with
its online market expansion. The company provide merchandise such as
tote bags, tumblers and ball pens. These are particularly made for
students and faculty members of UE Manila and other advocates that has
a keen interest with goods that promotes environmental sustainability. The
company’s objective is to collectively give cheap high-quality products that
would satisfy the customers’ wants while helping the environment
conservation.

The Company’s Stakeholders are as follows:

1. The General Manager who is overall in command of the business. This


person assures and guarantees that the business achieves its long
term and short-term goals while dedicating its utmost priority to the
well-being of the company.
2. The Assistant General Manager supports and extends help to the
General Manager by performing other managerial functions in the daily
operation of the business.
3. The Department Managers of every business unit who will facilitate the
monitoring of subordinate staffs in their respective departments in
order to ascertain that they are fulfilling their respective task with
excellence.

4. The Employees who will be the foundation of the company as they


would be responsible on the day to day operations of the business and
expected to live the mission and vision of the institution as they
perform their jobs
5. Consumers who serves as a lifeline of the business. They are the
priority of the company by giving them the best quality goods produced
by KamiKali Co.
6. Suppliers whom are the key of the business to produce high quality
products as they’re the one in charge in proffering the raw materials
used by the manufacturing company
7. The Government whom the company has sharing the same goal of
promoting the public interest. This is possible through supporting the
government projects with the taxes being paid by the company

Our Services:

The KamiKali Company mainly offers high quality eco-friendly


products. The company provides 3 products from its product line. These
are denim tote bags labeled as “Mined Bag”, tumblers that are
called “Mabobote” and plantable pens that are named as “Penseed”. The
company gives color variety and customization with the first two
aforementioned merchandise along with the available design made by the
design committee of the company. On the other hand, the company offers
different “Penseed” choices where the customers can pick their prefer
seeds that will come along their pens. All of these items will be served with
paper packaging to satisfy the aesthetic taste of its customers. This will be
market to environmental advocates along with the youth whom the
company wants to help with lessening their plastic footprint.

INTRODUCTION

A. The Business Concept and the Business Model (PABLO)

KamiKali Co. is a company established to provide the


necessity of the stakeholders of the University of the East particularly the
students and the faculty. It will offer staples such as tumblers, bags, and
pens which are important things to have in a school. The business
concept will be how using the products offered by the company will lessen
the plastic consumption on the campus. This is why the name is
associated with the environment and goes KamiKali or shortened "Kami
para sa KaliKasan".
University students and faculty who are users of plastics that
harm the environment are using numerous plastic ball pens, plastic bags
and ordinary pens with plastic body frames in their stay on campus. Aside
from its unhelpful to the environment, the unawareness it gives doesn't
help the students' ecological knowledge development. Therefore, the
products such as reusable tumblers, upcycled denim tote bags, and paper
ball pens are created to dispose of and stop plastic consumption.
The company will be producing these products by getting the
cheapest yet quality raw materials for bags and penseed that will be
manufactured while having partner suppliers for the tumblers. Also, the
company will offer tumbler and bag customization through having partner
printing shops. The company's production department values the
affordability of the price so they cinched to lower alternatives of raw
materials and outsource labor to come up with cost affordable goods. After
finalizing the product processing, all of it will also undergo eco-friendly
packaging so it can fit the aesthetic need of consumers as well. The

mentioned packaging will have paper seed tags that only KamiKali offers
among its competitors on the campus. This adds to the competitive
advantage of the company.
As how the company wants to serve the customers, it will
reach out through them in a form of having a physical store in Arts and
Hearts Bazaar for a week that can be found in PO Domingo Building. It will
also be available online through extending its offers in an online store like
shoppee and social media such as Facebook Twitter and Instagram.
Aside from the accessibility, it will have promotional tools to be led by the
company's marketing department. The company will communicate the
benefits they can get from the products with these promotional materials
so KamiKali can showcase their offerings' unique value proposition.
For the finances, the company will maximize the usage of
financial shares from the group members of the company. It will make
sure that the company will have a high return on investment by assuring
that all of its inventories will be sold in the physical and online stores. With
this, the company can secure the generation of its revenue.

BUSINESS PROPONENTS

A. Company Ownership (PABLO)

KamiKali Co. is a privately owned company established by a


sole proprietor that takes the role of overviewing the managerial
function of the business. The company was founded by a single
proprietor thus all of its shares are owned by the General Manager.
The General Manager together with the Assistant General Manager,
Departmental Managers and Staffs run a company that promotes
environmental sustainability awareness among the University of the

East-Manila stakeholders. It offers staples such as tumbler bottles,


denim tote bags and plantable pens that aims to lessen the usage of
plastic materials in campus.

B. Organizational Structure/Management Team (CRUZ)


The General Manager is accountable and responsible for the
overall performance of the company. In charge of the operations of the
company, including generating revenues and controlling the expenses,
delegating tasks and directing and leading employees to what they
should do. They usually supervise the business operations in order to
achieve its goals.
The Assistant General Manager helps the general manager
to ensure that the day-to-day business operations are going well or
they operate effectively. He/she is the one making sure that the
employees follow the rules and regulations and meet customer service
standards.
The Production Manager is the one who plans, and
coordinate with the manufacturing process of a certain goods.
Responsible for assessing projects and resource requirements needed
to produce a product. He/she makes sure that the products are worth
the price with the quality expected at the right cost.
The Sales and Marketing Manager focuses on the
development of the marketing strategy of the company. Tracks and
analyzes the performance of the advertisements, marketing budget,
and makes sure that the promotion of the products are released in
platforms that are appropriate for the brand.
The Human Resource Manager is responsible for the good
relationship of the management and its employees. He/she handles
problems and issues and thinks of a possible solution. Also

responsible for the managing of the recruitment, selection, and training


process of applicants.
The Finance and Accounting Manager is tasked in
reviewing the financial reports and monitoring the financial health of
the company. They investigate ways to improve profitability and to
reduce costs of the company. Develops plans and strategies for the
long-term financial goals of the organization.
The Rank-and-File Employees are the main power of the
company for its daily operations. They are the ones who perform the
day-to-day tasks in order for the company to keep running. They are
assigned to specific tasks or jobs and are responsible to accomplish
them.

TARGET CUSTOMERS AND MAIN VALUE PROPOSITION

A. Market Segmentation (ORTIZ)


Kamikali co. will mainly focus on serving the community of the
University of the East-Manila campus particularly students and faculty
members of the Basic Education and College students. Moreover,
working personnel will be part of our market since our company will
offer variety of products. Off-campus customers could also be potential
customers. Since the company is promoting environment sustainability
in the campus, Kamikali co. conducted a market survey that shows

groups of potential customers in UE-Manila that has shown interests in


purchasing tumblers, tote bags and penseeds. With data at hand, the
age range of the potential customers will be 16 years old and above
and mostly are senior high school students. Products are being offered
not only for the senior high school but for the whole campus.

B. Target Market Segment Strategy (ORTIZ)


The products of Kamikali co. is ideal for the campus especially
to students because of its affordability and environment eco-
friendliness. The target market of Kamikali co. will be senior high
school and college students but due to the affordability of the products,
even elementary and junior high school students in the campus can
purchase the products. Various marketing strategy will boost
company’s sales like organizing an event and advertisements and
such. Moreover, senior high school and college students will love the
products since it is ideal to students but also eco-friendly that promotes

environment sustainability. With this, the company will gain the loyalty
of the market.

Strategy #1. Social Media Advertisement


Social media platforms particularly Facebook, is a great
platform to get and reach a huge number of audiences. Since the
target market have smartphones, most of them surely have social
media accounts like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and such. Through
that, Kamikali company will be able to maximize the use of social
media to promote their products and to accommodate customers’
inquiries. For an easy communication between the company and
customers, creating Facebook page, Instagram account and Twitter
account will help the customers to know more about the products and
of course who really Kamikali company is. Through these accounts
and page, the company will be able to update the customers about
what they need to know and if there will be events and promotions by
posting an announcements and posters. Furthermore, posting the
enticing pictures and promotional videos of the products will be able to
catch the eye and sparks interest of the market. By doing this, the
company could attract potential customers and gain profit.
Strategy #2. Discounts Promotion / Clearance Sale
Discounts promotion is one of the most common yet effective
way to attract the customers. Many people only buy a product if it is
sale or discounted and no matter how good the offer would be, people
will at least pay their attention when they hear the word ‘’sale’’ or
‘’discount’’. For this reason, this kind of strategy will probably work.
Furthermore, there is a tendency that customers will buy more
products just to get the price deduction when they purchase products.
Giving discounts in the kick-off day will attract customers since it is the

perfect opportunity to introduce the company and the products to the


target market. Through this, Kamikali company could establish their
market tightly. By end of selling period, the company will do a
clearance sale to get rid of all the inventories and stocks remaining.
Also, the company will take advantage of the calendar’s events. For
example, today is February and Valentine’s day is approaching. With
this, Kamikali company can use this opportunity not only to have
promotions but also freebies in which related to the said event. By this,
the company could gain and attract more customers.

Strategy #3. Design Customization


We all know that everyone has their own taste and
preferences in almost everything that we have. Even to tote bags and
tumblers, customers want their stuffs to be their “own” by injecting their
interest and preferred designs to the said products. For this reason,
Kamikali company will also cater design customization in the product
that they are going to buy for the greater satisfaction of the customers.
By having their preferred design or signature on the product, their
satisfaction will probably increase that would possibly result to
purchasing more and patronizing the product.
Strategy #4. Promoting Environment Sustainability
In this day and age, environment sustainability is a must for
everyone. In line with Kamikali company’s mission and vision
promoting the use of eco-friendly products, the company will use this
not only to promote products but also to influence the youth to take an
action and make an effort to save the earth. We all know that only little
of the population is patronizing eco-friendly products that in fact will
help to save our environment. Since the company owners are also

teenagers, the company is initiating to influence the youth to use eco-


friendly products that will promote environment sustainability.

Strategy #5. Good Customer Relationship


Establishing a good relationship to customers will lead to
business’s success. Having a nice treatment would result to
purchasing and patronizing not only the product but also the company.
Moreover, the company must take care of their customers so that they
can make their customer repeat purchase of the products. Also, it will
enhance company image. If the company have a good relationship and
image with the customers, there’s a possibility that customers would
recommend the company’s product to other people that will boost the
company’s sales. Having an excellent customer feedback could lead to
attraction of new customers.

MARKET ANALYSIS

Political
The company is subjected to abide the policies and
regulations implemented by the government. Some of these are the
taxes payable in the business establishment and products available in

the market. The political environment is also subjected to change as


the legislators are likely to revise or add existing laws like Tax Reform
for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN Law). Although TRAIN Law
exempts small and micro business like KamiKali Co. in additional
Value Added Tax (VAT), there are still no assurance that changes
might not happen on the next few years. This possible policy changes
in taxes imposed in the manufacturing business might greatly affects
the income growth of the company. In addition, the company doesn’t
trade nor import as it uses local raw materials and employees, this can
conclude that foreign trade policy changes don’t affect KamiKali Co.

Economic
KamiKali Co. is likely to be beneficial as inflation forecast in
2020 is 2.9 percent which is lower than last year. This implies that raw
materials price will remain constant. However, the company is in threat
if the labor costs increases as it also pays outsource labor like printing
and sewers other than the staffs it has in the company. The company
pricing might also change if production cost increases and suffer
challenges to achieve its vision to provide “accessible and cheap” eco-
friendly staples. Nonetheless, the performance of the economy as of
now doesn’t much affect the company.
Social
The attitude and beliefs of consumers are significant to the
business as these consumers who are environment advocates will
increase the success of the company. If the consumers will prefer to
use more eco-friendly products, the business will thrive in the industry
since it purposely offers products that helps the environment. Other
things to consider are customer satisfaction with quality and designs of
the products offeed.

Technology usage is a prime factor in manufacturing business.
As of now, company employs outsource sewers and printing that uses
electric sewing machine and fabric printing machine. This offsets the
benefit as it increases the production cost of the company. Therefore,
the possible emergent of cheaper technology in future will help the
company to give the outmost quality output while lessening its
production cost.

Legal
Before starting a company, it needs to apply permits and
license applicable to its business form. As KamiKali Co. is owned by a
single proprietor, the business become under the Department of Trade
and Industry (DTI) when it registered its business. It also undergoes
certification for the taxes implementation by Bureau of Internal
Revenue (BIR). The company applied too for municipal business
permits such as License to Operate approved by City of Manila Bureau
of Permits, along with Department of Food and Drug Administration
product testing concerns. The City of Manila Bureau of Permits also
released Mayor’s Permit, Business License Plate and Sanitary Permit
while the Barangay 404 of Sampaloc Municipality released a Barangay
Permit.

Environmental
As what KamiKali Co pointed out with its goals, the company
assures that any raw materials that will be used will not cause harm to
the environment. Inclined with this is the packaging, product line and
promotion it gives to its market. However, KamiKali Co. might possibly

SWOT ANALYSIS (VALIENTE)


Strengths
Mined Bag is an eco-friendly tote bag made out of denim
fabric. It is a high-quality product and you can buy it at an affordable
price wherein the price is ranging from 80.00 – 170.00. It is also a
current fashion trend especially to students who used this kind of bag
as their school bags.
The company’s Penseed is an eco-friendly pen made out of
paper and has seeds at the end of the pen. The pen is made out of
sustainable material that can be a help to nature instead of buying a
normal pen that you’ll throw after you used it. The company has an
edge with the local market as it offers the first ballpen with seed among
its competitors who only have a pencil with seeds.
Kamikali’s Mabobote Tumbler is a minimalist bright tumbler that is
offered in different colors. It is significantly less expensive than it varies
from 45.00 – 140.00. The tumbler can be customized to whatever the
company’s eco customer preferred.

Weaknesses
Unfortunately, the company’s Mined Bag has a limited brand
awareness since the company is still new to the market. Also, the
company has a big number of competitors not just offering the same
kind of bag, but also the tote bag that is made out of katsa cloth. The
company has also limited manpower that slows down the production
timeline.
Kamikali’s company is offered at a higher price than normal
pens like HBW and Panda that can be bought for just 6.00 but can be

harmful to nature. Also, it can have a small market since this product is
still new to the market that only offers plantable pencils.
Mabobote Tumblers is made out of low – grade materials since it can
be available at an affordable price. The tumbler is not hot – water-
resistant so the tumbler cannot be contained a high-temperature liquid.
This product is also facing competition with several established brands.

Opportunities
Kamikali offers products that helps protect our planet and
lessen the usage of plastics in our campus. To achieve this, Kamikali
enters the market with the products such as water tumblers, denim tote
bags, and penseeds. Since the location of selling is inside the campus,
the target market are of course the employees and students of
University of the East. In our age, it is our responsibility to make a
move and do something that will make an impact to the UE community
what our company aims to achieve. With what is happening to our
planet, we see it as an opportunity to offer these products to help
sustain our environment. Also, with the presence of different social

Threats
Since tumblers, tote bags, and ballpens are not new in the
market, it may be somewhat difficult for us to penetrate the market.
Some threats that maybe observed is that the product offering we have
for our Mabobote Tumbler. Imprinting names to the tumbler is not new
to the eyes of many but we as a company tries to attract customers

with the variations of color that they can choose to for what color they

PRODUCT/SERVICE OFFERINGS

A. Product (ALONZO)
The KamiKali has three products to offer, they are the Mined
tote bags, penseeds, and the mabobote tumblers.
The mined tote bag is made of denim cloth sewn to form a tote
bag with a size of 15.9 x 13.9 inches. The Mined Tote Bags has three
choices of colors of blue, black, and gray. They also have an option if

they will pick a velcro strap or a zipper. They can be purchased as


plain or customized depending on the customers’ likes and
preferences.
The penseeds are ballpoint pens with a body made of paper
for more eco-friendly materials. This pen has seeds at the end, so
whenever the pens had run out of ink, you can plant the end of the
pens where its capsule with seeds inside is located.
Mabobote tumblers are made of hard plastic. These tumblers
can be reused and be purchased as plain or customized with their
name or statements depending on the customers’ preferences, as well.

B. Positioning (BALDEMESA)
Kamikali’s products such as the tote bag, penseed, and
tumblers were designed to benefit everyone, especially for teenagers
and older. The tote bag is for an easy carryall especially during busy
days, it can be used in school, to go shopping, for work and so much
more, the penseed is for people who wants to improve their writing
skills at the same time helping the environment planting seeds after its

use, while the tumblers are for people to use instead of the disposable
plastic bottles that are thrown almost anywhere. The hand made
products were made from environmental/eco-friendly such as the
denim jeans (used to create the tote bags) and kraft paper (used to
make the penseeds). These key components set Kamikali apart from
the rest and made it much more unique. The products are fashionable,
durable, useful and helpful to our environment which not only can help
the customers but can help the environment as well. In addition, the
company also accepts customizations means that they will do
whatever the customers want on their customized products. The
customers can assure that they will do their absolute best in order to
give full satisfaction and contentment to their customized products.

C. Packaging (GAMBOA)
Mined Tote Bag
The mined tote bag was rolled and tied by jute string with the
company's tag that has a seed.

D. Place (CARLOS)
KamiKali Co. is one of the booths that sells different products
and merchandise such as denim tote bags, tumblers, and penseeds.
The booth is located at POD-CIT Lobby in the University of the East –
Manila. This is a perfect place for selling because it is said to be near
in canteen, library and clinic that a lot of students are going around and
passing by here, so it can easily persuade the customers to buy the
products that the company being offered. Social media platforms such
as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter are also used as avenue for
selling so the customers can be able to see the information of each

products and they have time to choose and decide which product they
will buy.

E. People (AVILA)
The people who are assigned to sell in the booth depending
on the schedule will attempt to attract customers so that they may
become aware of the product on what the Kamikali company is selling.
The Marketing Staffs of the Kamikali Co. are responsible for promoting
their product, also to educate the customers about the product which it
promotes to being eco-friendly. The Kamikali Company aims to provide
satisfaction to customers while making their products safe for the
environment which promotes to be eco-friendly.

F. Promotion (MUCA)
All under the company of KamiKali Co. from top to lower level
have put lots of effort on thinking ideas on how the company will
promote their products to get the attention of the customers and to
make them avail the products that the company being offered.

The company workers have agreed to open social media


accounts such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram so that the
company could get the attention of social media customers.
The marketing department is the one who is in charge of
managing the accounts on all of the social media platforms. The
different types of designs, colors, seeds, and prices of each product
are being posted on social media accounts with a caption that explains
how the products would be a help for the environment, what makes the
products unique compare to others, how the products are made and
with the official hashtags of the company. With the use of Facebook
page, the company is also raising awareness of plastic hazards,
instead of using plastics; the company is promoting reusable products
that would help the environment.
The marketing department is also posting eco-facts about
plastics and denims so that everyone who will visit the page they would
learn something in just visiting the page. In Facebook page, the
company opens an event that connected to Valentine’s Day, the
participants are going to answer the given question in the way of
sharing it and putting a caption as their answer to the question and all
of the participants are required to tag at least 4 people from their friend
list.
The Kamikali Co. is also giving out flyers that have a
description of the products and it can also serve as their guide to know
the company price list. The employees are also promoting words-of-
mouth so that it’s easy for them to convince the customers since they
could discuss the whole product description in person to the
customers.
The KamiKali Co. happened to come up through a marketing
expansion by opening shoppe account so that the company could

reach out to customers nationwide since nowadays online shopping is


very trendy among teenagers and adults. According to Zialcita (2019),
e-commerce is gaining ground as digital marketplaces end 2018 with
high records of growing Filipinos doing their shopping online. The

spent online. Businesses believe that this makes the country an ideal
place for e-commerce to thrive.

The location of the company will be at Table 5, Ground floor of

be found together with other company stores as it has a bazaar set up.

the stores, and chairs for the sellers - which will be needed to
successfully operate and market the products effectively.

Starting up a business is a very crucial decision since the
entrepreneur isn't sure if the business he establish will profit or not.
Another thing is that he is obliged to comply with all the permits and
