LAPAY BANTIGUE
Meaning We as a whole realize that Lapay Bantigue is the drifting of winged creatures all the
more regularly known as seagulls or the "LAPAY" and due to that they usually use
copies or portrayal of the seagulls(Lapay) as their Props and other utilized props are
feathers(seldom)
Place of Origin Bantigue barangay is otherwise called where the local dance "Lapay Bantigue"
started, Region V- Bicol
Ethnolinguistic Group Masbaneto, Cebuano, Hiligaynon and Bicolano
Classification Lapay Bantigue Dance Festival, It is commended every year during the City
Anniversary on 30th day of September. This occasion features the conventional
society dance made by "Lola Felisa" numerous years prior, when she imitated the
effortless development of the seagull (privately known as Lapay).
Background/ Context This occasion features the conventional people dance made by "Lola Felisa" numerous years

The dance has developed and is presently perceived by the Cultural Center of the
Philippines as one of the authority people moves of the nation.

3 Movements/Steps LUPAD
Particular to the Flutter your arms gracefully and step sideways for 16 counts. After this, face your partner

LUPAD
Again, flutter your arms gracefully and step sideways for 16 counts. After this, face your
partner and do this step again for 16 counts. Pose for your final position right after.

STEP TUKA
While facing your partner, place the back of your palm on your forehead and do a pecking
motion with your back bent. Do this for 8 counts. Then, while still doing this step, go
opposite ways eg. you going to the front and your partner going to the back. Do this for four
times.

Move your arms in front of you up and down for 16 counts. Then, jump lightly in front of
your partner and move your arms up and down in synchronization. Do this for 16 counts
too.

You and your partner should bend and face opposite directions while stomping for eight
counts then raise your arms while twirling to face your partner. Do this for four times.
LUPAD
Again, flutter your arms gracefully and step sideways for 16 counts. After this, face your
partner and do this step again for 16 counts. Pose for your final position right after.
Emotion seen on The expression of every dance has the happy and smiling composition toward
Dancers’ Expression dancing the folk dance.

1. Explain the element of shape observed in the dance according to (a) symmetry/asymmetry (b) levels,
and (c) scale?
-symmetry, they express the same categories toward their parts of the body they remain balance toward
their arms and foots
-they often have a high level dance such as flying, jumping, like a fluttery bird
-scale of the entire place was emphasized toward the performance

2. How did the dancers utilize the space available?


-they consume the entire place from their steps and dancing, they emphasized their movement and steps.
3. Why are the dancers barefooted?
-maybe it emphasized the contemporary theme of the traditional dance from the culture.
4. Did the dancers execute the steps properly? Why or why not?
-they execute the symbol of the fluttering bird which are the every steps of the individual dancer, they
also emphasizing the flawlessness of the concept.
5. Why does the dance mainly consist of bending and jump steps?
-They categorised the concept of bird that might also symbolized the concept of being free from the
colonization.
6. Is Lapay Bantigue based on theme or music? Explain briefly.
-the theme song emphasized the simplicity of the bukidnon of where birds fly freely, it emphasized
where the birds usually manifested their homes, it also give the sensation of being cultivative state of the
birds out redeemed. It symbolized the state of harmonious and calmness of the place.
