4.0 DETAILED PROCEDURE

- 2 -

4.1 General
1) Inform the operations supervisor and the local operator of the work
to be carried out.
2) Obtain all required authorization before carrying out any
overrides/isolation of safety critical equipment.
3) Ensure that LOTO procedure for electrical de-energization and
isolation is correctly followed.
4) Carry out visual checks of the isolation transformer for any
physical damage or corrosion, unusual condition.
5) Check the cable and gland condition for any sign of deterioration.

4.2 Routine Maintenance Checks

1) Isolate power supply to the isolation transformer with correct Lock

Out and Tag Out.
2) Remove any other accumulation in front of the ventilation openings
to allow free entry of cooling air.
3) Remove the enclosure panel to carry out the internal checks as
follows:
4) Check for any moisture or sign of condensation or dripping. Rectify
the problems.
5) Check for any accumulation of dust or dirt, clean out by using a
brush, vacuum cleaner or clean rags.
6) Clean lead supports, tap changers and terminal boards and other
major insulation surfaces or wipe with a dry cloth.
7) Check for loose connections, for the condition of tap changers or
terminal boards, and for the general condition of the transformer.
Retighten as required.
8) Observe any signs of overheating and of voltage creepage over
insulating surfaces as evidenced by tracking or carbonization.
9) Check the insulation resistance between phase-phase and phase-earth
for all out-going circuits and main supply cables. The measured value
should be over 1M#.
10) Check the neutral earthing conditions and measure the earthing
continuity.
11) Check each jackscrew assembly for proper torque by attempting to
move the coil block with the hand from side to side. If motion exists,
tighten the jackscrew assembly.
Caution should be observed when handling nuts, bolts and washers to
prevent dropping them into the coils.

12) Assemble the enclosure panel after the internal check and cleaning.
13) Evidence of rusting, corrosion and deterioration of the paint should
be looked for and corrective measures should be taken, where necessary.

5.0 WORK CLOSE-OUT AND HANDOVER

1) Remove all unused parts and scraps, and clean up the site.
2) Remove #DO NOT OPERATE” sign as displayed.
3) Inform Plant Operator of job completion.
4) Close out permit to work and handover unit for operation.

6.0 FEEDBACK OF CHANGES

1) Generate a request for any identified modifications to work

procedures arising from HSE requirements or changes of the circumstances
- 3 -

of the work specified. Such request for changes shall be addressed to

the Discipline Lead in Corporate Maintenance accompanied by a request
for changes in SAP using a Z6 Notification.
2) Document additional corrective actions required to be carried out in
the course of this planned maintenance activity by raising a Z1
Notification in SAP specifying additional work and any other additional
material requirements. For corrective work carried out during this
procedure, without recourse to extra materials, this shall be documented
as part of the equipment history by using a M3 Notification in SAP.

7.0 DOCUMENTATION

1) Complete and submit the completed check list and observation sheet.
2) Input report to SAP-PM for update and spares used.
