ASSIGNMENT NO. 3
SUPPLY CHAIN LOGISTIC NETWORK

COURSE
“SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT”

ASSIGNMENT BY: KHAWAJA M IMTIAZ UDDIN

ENROLMENT ID: 18368 / MBA-EXE

SUBMITTED TO TEACHER: MR. FAISAL JALAL

PRELUDE TO MY CHOSEN PRODUCT

My chosen product is a smart speaker i.e. Echo dot which is available in different variants ranging

from different prices and added features. It's not just a speaker but a source to help you out with

updated news, advertisement, controls over household smart devices. it is available with a new

design and that Echo dot is a voice-controlled smart speaker with a lady speaking guider i.e. Alexa,

which is actually appropriate for any room of your house. Just ask for the information you need,

calling feasibility to almost anyone within your contacts and to that compatible with smart home

devices with just a voice of yours.

IMPORTANT CONCEPTS PRIOR DESIGNING A SUPPLY

CHAIN NETWORK

As we have learned during class lectures, that “In designing a supply chain, we need to be confident

of how all supply chain drivers should be utilized together to assist in developing a competitive

strategy of a business or entity and that, to make the most of supply chain profits. Below are key

drivers which let us understand how a company can improve supply chain performance in terms of

responsiveness and efficiency.

Supply Chain Network Design is all

about the art of balancing our
relationship with all elements of SC
Drivers with optimal location and size
of facilities and the flow of products
using a mathematical modeling
approach”

SUPPLY CHAIN NETWORK DESIGNING FOR MY PRODUCT

Objectives that need to be considered prior designing logistic networks are shown below:

Below is the Table 1.1, showing 3 Warehouses being mapped that is covering 8 potential
customers (mayors) - 80% market and that 20% of customer requires a longer lead time. MAP has
been drawn on next page using GOOGLE MAP covering 3 warehouse and 10 potential
mayors/customers depicting high future demand in those selected areas which will be facilated by
chosen 3 warehouses.

JUSTIFICATION ON CHOSEN WAREHOUSE QUANTITIES
AND LOCATIONS

THREE number of warehouses selected based on the consideration that it would cover 80% of the

product market, where given mayors are available that will help-out be giving positive feedback

about the delivery lead time and service leading to enhancing the number of customers available in

certain surrounded areas. Three locations have been picked for Warehouses namely 1st -

Shreveport, 2nd -Kentucky and 3rd - Pennsylvania respectively as mentioned above that they are

at a lesser distance to potential mayors & customers and that they will cover 80% of the market

using FedEX courier service. As the demand of my product is HIGH and same is forecasted for

future growth in demand against my product based on the trends that had been analyzed over a

period of time, so I have selected only mandatory warehouse/logistic set up that I can bear the

inventory, interest and fuel-transportation cost not suppressing the quality of my product.

CONCLUSION

Since, we are done with completion of Logistic network design for my product “Echo Dot (Smart

Speaker)” for an E-commerce platform i.e. Amazon. Warehouses that were located after analyzing

and selecting mayors of top ten metro areas from the given list which would promote our sample

product to potential future customers. The most surprising and difficult part was designing a network

map using Google Map, which was something New to Learn and, how

effectively we can use Google Maps for analyzing lead time, distances

with reference to different mode of transportation.

Seven important factors to consider for Solid foundation of Supply

chain network design are shown.
