The EW8310 is more than an Electromagnetic Lock, it can also sense when an intruder is attempting to gain access into a
building through a locked door. The built-in sensor detects door movement and initiates a local and/or remote alarm prior to
the integrity of the door being compromised; well before the break-in has occurred.
An alarm in the immediate location will ward off would be thieves before they have a chance to gain access. The light panel
provides highly visible information related to the status changes of the door. For example, it works as a status indicator when
the door is secure or notifies if an attempted break-in has occurred.

as intended. We have made every effort to ensure that the dimensions shown are accurate; however, various manufacturers’

Power Supplies
Ordering a Transformer or DC Power Supply
When ordering a power supply (whether it’s a unit with many options, like an RCI 10 Series model, or just
a transformer), the voltage you will use is often dictated by the locking and access control products being
used. For example, assume you decide to use 24-volt electric strikes. You must then use a 24-volt power
supply.
Next, make sure that this 24-volt power supply is large enough to power the locks. To do this, find out
what current (amps or “A”) each lock uses. This information can be found in product literature or on the
label attached to the product. In this example, we’ll use a typical RCI electric strike current rating. Current
consumption is a low 0.1 amps (or 100 mA – milliamps) each.
Let’s assume, for our example, that we are installing four of these strikes. They are 24V @ 0.1 amps. The
voltage stays the same (24V strike = 24V power supply). We must, however, take the total current of all
locks being used. Therefore, at 0.1 amps each (for 4 locks) the total is 0.4 amps. Multiply the total current
(0.4 amps) using a safety factor (SF) of 2. (Using a safety factor is a good habit to develop.) We will,
therefore, be using 0.8 amps as a safe figure to work with:

10 Series Power Supplies – Features & Pricing
RCI’s filtered and regulated 10 Series DC Power Supplies are designed with safety and reliability in mind, especially when it comes
to electromagnetic locks. They incorporate many life safety options required by the National Building Code such as; fire panel
interface, instant unlock upon power failure and remote override reset capabilities for authorized personnel. Standard features
include universal knock-outs and built-in battery charging circuits.
With the Installer in mind we’ve changed the door to a drop down lid, providing a usable work surface, along with a 120 VAC
receptacle for installation and maintenance ease.

switches, card readers or key pads simply contact our Customer Service Department. The door will unlock immediately in the event
of fire; Because the electromagnetic lock is tied to the fire alarm panel, egress is enabled by depressing the mechanical exit device.
An authorized user may override the alarm and unlock the door by turning the keyswitch. Turning the keyswitch in the opposite
direction will reset the system so that the door may be re-locked.
