1 About this document
This is the quick start instructions for the API 1500A-230 Inverter. It provides the basic
information to set stand-alone or parallel running devices in operation.

2 Operating the inverter

Before starting

Before you begin make sure that all the

DC INPUT rocker switches are in the Off
position.

Plug in

Plug-in the unit to free slot. Secure the

connection with the lever.

Starting the inverters

Turn all the DC INPUT rocker switches to

On position. At start all the LEDs turn on.
The inverter module that is started first will
get bus address 1, second one will get 2
and so on. Wait at least 1 s between
startups to make sure that bus address
selection happens this way. When all the
parallel LEDs stop flashing the inverter
system is ready for operation.

Output on

Turn on the output voltage of all the

inverters at the same time in the system by
pressing two On buttons in the system at
the same time at least 1 s. The output
LEDs turn on. Check the output load level
from the LED bar indicator.

For stand alone start up, it is enough to

push just the button of the particular
inverter.

 Check inverter status

Check inverter status, if no alarm is

present. The redundancy warning (blinking
LED in power bar graph) should not
appear.

Shutting down

Turn off the output of all inverters at the

same time by pressing two Off buttons in
the system at the same time at least 1 s.
To turn off the output of one inverter:
Press the Off button of that inverter at
least 1s. The output LED turns off. To shut
down inverters totally first turn the outputs
off as above. Then turn the DC INPUT
rocker switches to Off position.

2.1 Diagnostic
If the inverter recognizes a fault condition it uses the front panel LEDs to indicate it to the
user. In case of fault the alarm can be reset by fixing the problem in the system. In case
of an alarm on the inverter (refer the User manual) press shortly one On button. If this
procedure doesn’t help, try shutting down the inverter by turning the Power On rocker
switch to Off position and then restart the inverter by turning the Power On rocker switch
back to the On position. Refer to the User Manual for more information about alarms.

2.2 Remote monitoring and programmable parameters

Refer to the RemoteMonitoring Manual for monitoring the inverter operation and
modifying output frequency, voltages and other parameters. Parameters can be changed
even when inverter output is on. Parameters are described in the User Manual.

2.3 Expanding a system
It is possible to expand a system even when system output is on.

Plug in

Plug-in the unit to free slot. Secure the

connection with the lever.

Output

Turn the DC INPUT rocker switch of the

new inverter to ON position. Wait some
seconds for the inverter start up. If system
output is on, the added inverter adapts
parameters from the system and turns
output automatically on. If system output
was off, the added inverter keeps output
off.

Check inverter status

Check inverter status, if no alarm is

present. The redundancy warning (blinking
LED in power bar graph) should not
appear.
