Fanuc 0iD Embedded Ethernet (Cerberus)

Windows 7
To connect computers via the RJ45 socket with embedded ethernet for transfer of
programs, offsets, macro or settings etc using the CNC control only.

Computer will need FTP server software such as ‘Cerberus FTP Server’
Download from http://www.cerberusftp.com/download.htm#download

Ensure that wifi is switched OFF on Laptop.

Setting up CNC
Change I/O Channel on Fanuc to 9.
In MDI mode
Press SYSTEM button
Press RH ARROW soft key until EMBED soft key appears
Press EMBED soft key
If screen displays AVAILABLE DEVICE “EMBEDDED” go to page 3

If not
Press (OPRT) soft key
Press EMB/PCM soft key
Press EXECUTE soft key

Type in IP ADDRESS of the control
Type in SUBNET MASK
Type in ROUTER IP ADDRESS if used on network (optional)

Press PAGE down and leave blank as below

Press FOCAS2 soft key and fill in as below

Press FTPTRNS soft key and fill in like below

IP ADDRESS of computer
PORT NUMBER 2121
USER NAME required i.e. name of machine (will be name used on Cerberus software later)
PASSWORD is not necessary for Cerberus FTP server software so leave blank

Press PAGE down and fill in like below

(Make sure the folder CNC is Shared)

LOGIN FOLDER is the location where programs are stored on computer.
Make the directory on the C: drive to keep pathname as short as possible.

Page down and repeat for other computers on CONNECT 2 and 3 if required

Note: To clear existing data from a field use the ‘SPACE’ key

Once all data has been entered

Press (OPRT) Soft key

Press RESTART Soft key
Press EXECUTE Soft key

Ensure you have a folder, CNC on C:\ drive & it is shared.

Make sure you Press the Restart Soft Key on the Fanuc

Setting up Computer
Click Network – bottom RH screen
Click on Open Network & Sharing Centre
Click LOCAL AREA CONNECTION
Click PROPERTIES
Highlight INTERNET PROTOCAL (TCP/IP) and click PROPERTIES button
Select USE THE FOLLOWING IP ADDRESS
Type in IP address required (192.168.200.2)
Press TAB button
Click OK
Click CLOSE
Close network connection window

Click START
Click CONTROL PANEL
Click WINDOWS FIREWALL
Click GENERAL tab
Select ON
Click EXCEPTIONS tab
Make sure that FILE & PRINTER SHARING is ticked
Make sure Cerberus FTP server is ticked
Click OK
Close security centre window
Close control panel window

To check connections from computer to control

Click START
Click RUN
Type in CMD and click OK (this will open up new ‘dos’ window)
On command line type in PING with IP address of CNC (192.168.100.1)
Press Carriage Return
This will try to connect to CNC and if working correctly should look similar to below

To check connections from control to computer

Press SYSTEM button

Press RH ARROW soft key six times until EMBED soft key appears
Press EMBED soft key
Press RH ARROW soft key once
Press PING soft key
Press (OPRT) soft key
Press P.FTP1 soft key
Control will try to connect to PC and if working correctly should look similar to below

To set up Cerberus FTP Server software

Double click Cerberus FTP Server

Click CONFIGURE THE USER OPTIONS
Click NEW
Type in USERS name (same as on control)
Press RETURN
Click BROWSE …
Browse for required folder (same as LOGIN DIR on control)
Click OK
Click ADD TO ROOT
Tick DOWNLOAD and UPLOAD boxes
Click CLOSE

To view contents of computer directory on the CNC

Press PROGRAM button

Press DIR soft key
Press (OPRT) soft key
Press RH ARROW soft key once
Press DEVICE soft key
Press EMB ETH soft key

To view contents of different computer

Press RH ARROW soft key three times

Press HOST soft key, Once for CONNECT 2 and again for CONNECT 3

Sending and receiving

In MDI mode
Press OFFSET/SETTING button
Set I/O CHANNEL to 9

In EDIT mode
Programs, offsets, macro and parameters can be read or punched exactly as with a
memory card.
