Standard Specification. DUTIES OF A FIELD MATERIALS MAN
To have at all times the complete and up-to-date materials
map of the province or city, charts and diagrams showing progress of work, etc. posted in laboratory building. To ascertain that all materials incorporated into work pass the requirement of DPWH Standard Specifications for Highways, To keep a record/logbook of his daily activity ready for Bridges and Airport and to strictly comply with the schedule inspection anytime. of Minimum Testing Requirements
To comply strictly with all instructions and memoranda.
To advice the Project Engineer on the acceptance or rejection of construction materials intended for use in the project, base on test results. To submit within required time frame tests reports and other pertinent papers to the Project Implementing Office. Recommend to the Project Engineer remedial measures for the correction of unsatisfactory condition of materials. To develop a system of filling pertinent reports on testing and quality control ready at anytime for appraisal, inspection or quality assurance audit. To prepare design mixes for concrete and bitumen mixtures.
To conduct soil investigations and materials survey of
probable sources of materials, and reporting approximate quantity available, suitability of materials and other pertinent data.
To insure that sample are properly cured by standard
procedures.
To see that samples are sent to the Regional/District
Laboratory are well packed in durable containers to avoid damages at transit, and that all samples are accompanied by a card filled-up in detail.
To fully acquaint himself with the standard procedures in
sampling, testing, and quality control of materials.
To see that the Field Laboratory Building is constructed
accordance with the DPWH Standard Specifications.
To see that the field laboratory is adequately equipped such
the progress of the work will to be impeded in laboratory testing and that non-performance of tests shall not be a cause of delay in the prosecution of work.
To see that all laboratory equipment are protected in dust or
foreign matters that tend to destroy their sensitivity.
