LUG-LUG TAP BOX

PART 1 GENERAL
1.01 SUMMARY
A. Furnish and install an integrated solution as specified herein and where shown on the associated
drawings.
1. The section shall include:
a. Lug-Lug Tap Box interior

1.02 REFERENCES
A. The equipment referenced herein are designed and manufactured according to the latest revision of
the following standards, code or specification:
1. UL 1773 – Standard for Termination Boxes
2. NEMA 250

1.3 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

A. Field Cables Termination: The Tap Box must have enough space for the Filed Cables termination and
bending radii
B. Lugs: Both Line Side & Load Side Lugs must have the capability to accept the Cables sizes as defined on the
drawings.

1.03 SUBMITTAL AND RECORD DOCUMENTATION


A. Submit product data and shop drawings in accordance with Division 01 and Division 26
Section “Common Work Results for Electrical” for products specified under PART2 -
PRODUCTS.
B. Product Data: For each rating of the Tap Box including dimensioned elevations, sections, weights,
and manufacturers' technical data on features, performance, electrical characteristics, ratings, and
finishes.
C. Shop Drawings: For each enclosed Tap Box.
1. Dimensioned plans, elevations, sections, and details. Show tabulations of installed
devices, equipment features, and ratings. Include the following:

a. Enclosure types and details for types other than NEM A250.
b. Bus configuration, current, and voltage ratings.

2. Wiring Diagrams: Power, signal, and control wiring.

1.05 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING


A. Inspect and report concealed damage to carrier within their required time period.
B. Handle carefully to avoid damage to panelboard internal components, enclosure, and finish.
C. Store in a clean, dry environment. Maintain factory packaging and, if required, provide an
additional heavy canvas or heavy plastic cover to protect enclosure(s) from dirt, water,
construction debris, and traffic.
1.06 PROJECTCONDITIONS
A. Environmental Limitations: Rate equipment for continuous operation at indicated ampere ratings for the
following conditions:

1. Ambient Temperature for Tap-Tap Box: Minimum of negative 5 deg. C and Maximum of
40deg.C

2. Altitude: Not exceeding 6600feet (2000m).

2.1 MANUFACTURES

A. In other Part 2 articles where titles below introduce lists, the following requirements apply to
product selection:
1. Manufacturers: The Manufacturer shall comply to the design, specification and
standard requirements. The Contractor shall submit the technical brochure of the
Manufacturer for the review and approval of the Engineer

2.2 RATINGS

A. 480Y/277 volt [power panels], [lighting and appliance panels], [individually mounted circuit
breakers], shall be rated to withstand mechanical forces exerted during short circuit conditions
when connected to a power source having an available fault current of [18,000] [22,000],
[25,000], [42,000], [65,000] amperes symmetrical at rated voltage as shown on the drawing.
B. Equipment shall meet both UL891 and UL67 thermal standards.
C. UL listed series ratings shall be made available upon request.

2.3 ENCLOSURES
A. Enclosure: Type 1 - General Purpose.
1. Enclosures shall be constructed in accordance with UL 891 requirements.
2. Enclosure shall be painted on all exterior surfaces. The paint finish shall be a
medium gray, ANSI #49, applied by the electro-deposition process over an iron
phosphate pre-treatment.
3. All front covers shall be screw removable with a single tool and all doors shall be
hinged with removable hinge pins.
4. Each lineup shall consist of the required number of vertical sections bolted together
to form a rigid assembly.
5. Sections shall allow for top and/or bottom cable entry and exit.

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.01 INSTALLATION

A. Install the Integrated Power Center in accordance with manufacturer's written instructions, NEMA
PB 2.1 “Proper Handling, Installation, Operation and Maintenance of Deadfront Switchboards
Rated 600 volts or Less” and NEC standards.

3.02 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL

A. Inspect complete installation for physical damage, proper alignment, anchorage, and grounding.
B. Check tightness of bolted connections and circuit breaker connections using calibrated torque
wrench or torque screwdriver per manufacturer's written specifications.
