1. The numbers of vacancies as also the numbers of reserved vacancies are provisional and may vary
according to the actual requirement of the Bank.
2. It is clarified that it may not be possible to employ Physically Challenged candidates in all Offices/

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
(A) NATIONALITY / CITIZENSHIP:
A CANDIDATE MUST BE A CITIZEN OF INDIA AND BELONGS TO GUJRAT STATE (THE
DOMICILE OF GUJARAT STATE).
AGE (as on 31.12.2009) : Minimum 18 years - Maximum 26 years (For both the Posts)

Note :
1. The relaxation in upper age limit is cumulative as per Govt. of India guidelines.
2. An ex- serviceman who has once joined a Government job on civil side after availing of the
benefits given to him as an Ex-Serviceman for his re-employment, including a job in the Public
Sector Undertaking ceases to enjoy ex-serviceman status for further employment.
3. Above relaxations are available only if the candidates fulfill the various conditions prescribed in
the Govt. of India orders and instructions in this regard. To claim age relaxation, reserved
category candidates should submit a copy of the Community Certificate.

Definition of Ex-serviceman (EXSM):

Ex-servicemen: Only those candidates shall be treated as Ex-Servicemen who fulfill the revised
definition as laid down in Govt. of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, Deptt. Of Personnel &
Administrative Reforms notification No. 36034/5/85/Estt (SCT) dated 27.10.1986 as amended
from time to time.
Disabled Ex-Servicemen (DISXS) : Ex-Servicemen who while serving in Armed Forces of the
Union were disabled in operation against the enemy or in disturbed areas shall be treated as
DISXS.
Dependents of Ex-Servicemen killed in action (DXS) : Servicemen killed in the following
operations would be deemed to have been killed in action attributable to military service (a)
war , (b) war like operations or Border Skirmishes either with Pakistan on cease fire line or any
other country , (c) fighting against armed hostilities in a counter insurgency environment,
viz.Nagaland, Mizoram, etc. (d) serving with peace keeping mission abroad, (e) laying or
clearance of mines including enemy mines as also mine sweeping operation between one
month before and three months after conclusion of an operation, (f) frost bite during actual
operations or during the period specified by the Government, (g) dealing with agitating para
military forces personnel, (h) IPKF Personnel killed during the operations in Sri Lanka.

Definition : Physically Challenged Persons (PC) –
Definition of Categories of Disabilities:
(a) An Orthopedically Challenged (OC) person is one suffering from Locomotor Disability
or Cerebral Palsy. Persons who suffer from not less than 40% of relevant disability (as
certified by a Medical Board appointed by the Central / State Govt.) would be eligible
for reservation in services/ posts.
Locomotor Disability means disability of the bones, joints or muscles leading to
substantial restriction of the movement of the limbs or any form of cerebral palsy.
Cerebral Palsy means a group of non progressive conditions of a person characterized
by abnormal motor control posture resulting from brain insult or injuries occurring in
the pre-natal, peri-natal, or infant period of development.
(b) Hearing Impaired (HI) : Hearing impairment means loss of sixty decibels or more in the
better ear in the conversational range of frequencies.
(c) Visually Impaired: (VI) The visually impaired persons are those suffering from blindness
or low vision.
Blindness – refers to a condition where a person suffers from any of the following
conditions
(i) total absence of sight, (ii) Visual acuity not exceeding 6/60 or 20/200 (Snellen) in the
better eye with correcting lenses, (iii) Limitation of the field of vision subtending an
angle of 20 degree or worse.
Person with low vision – means a person with impairment of visual functioning even
after treatment or standard refractive correction, but who uses or is potentially
capable of using vision for the planning or execution of a task with appropriate
assistive device.
The visually impaired candidates and candidates whose writing speed is affected by cerebral palsy can
use their own scribe at their cost during the written examination. In all such cases where a scribe is
used, the following rules will apply:
The candidate will have to arrange his/ her own scribe -
i) At his/ her own cost.
ii) The academic qualification of the scribe should be one grade lower than the stipulated
eligibility criteria.
iii) The scribe can be from any academic discipline. The scribe should possess 60% or
lesser marks.
iv) Both the candidate as well as the scribe will have to give a suitable undertaking,
confirming that the scribe fulfills all the stipulated eligibility criteria for a scribe as
mentioned above. Further, in case, it later transpires that he/ she did not fulfill any of
the laid down eligibility criteria or suppress material facts; the candidature of the
applicant will stand cancelled, irrespective of the result of the written examination.
v) Such candidates who use a scribe shall be eligible for extra time of 20 minutes for
every hour of the examination

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS ( as on 31.12.2009)


POST CODE – 01 (Officer : Scale- I)
(i) Degree of a recognized University in any discipline or it’s equivalent.
(ii) Proficiency in local language, i.e. Gujarati is essential.
(iii) Computer literacy is essential. Preference shall be given to candidates having Computer
Knowledge as part of the curriculum at the Degree/Diploma level and/or candidates
who are computer literate through reputed Computer Training Institutes. Preference
shall also be given to candidates who are having professional qualifications in IT/
Engineering/ Management/ Finance/ Accounts/ Business Administration / Law /
Agriculture / Veterinary Science / MCA / Chartered Accountant etc.
(iv) Knowledge of English language is essential.

POST CODE - 02 Clerk-Cum-Cashier (Office Assistant)
(i) (a) Degree from a recognized University in any discipline or its equivalent; OR
(b) Pass in Higher Secondary Examination of 10+2 or 10+2+3 pattern/11th standard
of 11+3 pattern/pre-degree or intermediate or any equivalent examination
with a minimum of 50 % Marks in aggregate; OR
(c) Pass with minimum 60% marks in aggregate in matriculation/Senior School
Certificate (old pattern) / or equivalent.
(ii) Diploma in banking recognized by Central Govt. / State Govt. is desirable.
(iii) Proficiency in local language, i.e. Gujarati, is essential.
(iv) Knowledge of English language is essential.
(v) Computer literacy is essential. Preference shall be given to candidates having Computer
Knowledge as part of the curriculum at the Degree/Diploma level and/or candidates
who are computer literate through reputed Computer Training Institutes.

(iv) Bank Draft or Banker’s cheque, must be purchased on or after the date of advertisement but on or
before the last date for online registration.
(v) Payment by any other mode will not be accepted.
(vi) Candidates applying for both the posts should submit separate application for each post along
with requisite postage charges/fee.
(vii) Application once made will not be allowed to be withdrawn and postage charges/fee once paid will
not be refunded on any account nor can it be held in reserve for any other selection process.
SELECTION PROCEDURE (POST CODE -01)
The selection of the candidates shall be made on the basis of written test and interview. All the
eligible candidates, who apply with the requisite application fee and whose applications are received
in time will be called for a written test, which will be objective type comprising:

POST CODE – 02
The selection of the candidates shall be made on the basis of written test and interview. All the eligible
candidates, who apply with the requisite application fee and whose applications are received in time
will be called for a written test, which will be of objective type comprising:

(Test papers of Reasoning Ability, Numerical Ability and Clerical Aptitude will be printed in Hindi &

Note for Post Code 1 and 2 :
(a) The marks obtained in first three papers will be reduced to 60% for the purpose of
preparing merit list after the written examination.
(b) The candidates must obtain minimum of 30% (25% for SC/ST)marks in written examination in
each test.
(c) The test of English language is only a qualifying exam and the candidates have to
obtain minimum of 30%(25% for SC/ST) marks to qualify in it.
Marks obtained in the written test will be reckoned for merit ranking. Accordingly, candidates will be
called for personal interview. Depending upon the number of vacancies only those candidates who
rank sufficiently high in the written test will be called for interview in the ratio of 1:4. Mere eligibility /
pass in the written test shall not vest any right for being called for interview.
The detailed information regarding the written test will be given in the “Acquaint Yourself” booklet
which will be sent to the candidates along with the call letter for written examination.
Final selection will be on the basis of ranking accorded after adding the marks obtained in the written
test and personal interview.
The Bank reserves the right to hold a second stage of written examination, if required, on the basis of
the order of merit in the written examination of the first stage referred to as above. If the second stage
of written examination is held, the subsequent process of interview and further process would be on
the basis of order of merit secured in the second stage examination.
Written Test :
(i) The written test for the Officers’ Post will be held on 06-03-2011
(ii) The Written Test for the post of Clerk-cum-Cashiers (Office Assistant) will be held on 13-03-2011
(iii) The dates of examination are tentative. The exact dates will be communicated to the candidates
through call letter for each examination. The Bank, however, reserves the right to cancel or
make any change in the date of examination, if need arises.
(iv) The Written test will be scheduled at the following Centres and the address of the Venue will be
advised in the Call Letter:

NOTE :
The Bank reserves the right to cancel any of the centres and/or add some other centres, depending
upon the response, administrative feasibility etc. The Bank also reserves the right to allot the
candidates any of the centres other than the one he/she has opted for.

Probation : The selected candidate will be on probation for a period of [For Officers - 2 Years
and for Clerical Cadre (Office Assistant) - 1 Year] active service from the date of his / her joining the
Bank.
Pre- Examination Training for SC/ST/Minority/XS candidates. (For both Posts)
It is proposed to impart free Pre- Examination Training to SC/ST/Minority/XS Candidates at
Ahmedabad. The Training Centre may also be changed at the discretion of the Bank. An eligible
candidate who wishes to avail Pre-Examination Training should fill in the relevant column in the
application format. All expenses regarding traveling, boarding, lodging etc will be borne by the
candidate for attending the Pre- Examination Training programme at the concerned Training Centre.

No other means/mode of application will be accepted. The last date of registering application is
22-12-2010. Application registration on our website will be open from 23-11-2010 to 22-12-2010.

 Candidate should have a valid personal e-mail id. In case, candidate does not have valid e-
mail id, he/ she should create a new e-mail id. This e-mail id should be valid for the
duration of the project. Bank may send call letters for written test, Interview etc, through
this registered e-mail ID.
 Candidates should have their Demand Draft, particulars of qualification, experience, if any
ready before applying on-line, as the details are required to be entered in the on-line
application. Please note that without valid Demand Draft/ Pay Order details, on-line
registration of application will be summarily rejected.
 Demand Draft should be purchased on any date between 23-11-2010 and 22-12-2010
Please note that even if the last date for applying online are extended for any reason the
dates for payment of fees will remain the same.

 Candidate’s Name, Address, Registration Number, Post applied for and Name of the

 After submission of application on-line, a system generated registration number and
password will be allotted to the applicant. Thereafter, the candidate should obtain a
system generated print out of the application.
 A recent passport size photograph should be affixed on the application at appropriate
place and the applicant should sign across it. Then, send by ordinary post, the signed
application along with Demand Draft & other necessary certificates/ documents.
 Manual corrections in system generated print out of application will not be entertained
and such applications will be rejected. If a candidate wishes to make any correction in
the application, he/she is required to register again afresh with correct details and take
fresh print out of application.

The application must be accompanied by a Demand Draft/ Pay Order of value mentioned as
above, as the case may be, along with certified xerox copies (duly attested by Gazetted officer) of
following documents. Unless the hard copy of the system generated printout of the Online
Application Form along with all the relevant enclosures is received at the prescribed address
mentioned above the Online application will not be considered valid.

Secondary School certificate/ School leaving certificates for proof of age.


Marks sheet (year wise) showing specifically the subjects studied and certificate/s in support of
educational qualification viz. SSLC / HSC / Graduate degree, post graduation degree,
professional/research qualification etc.
A candidate belonging SC/ST/OBC/PC category should attach a certified copy of the
SC/ST/OBC/PC certificates issued by the Competent Authority in the prescribed format as
prescribed by Government of India. In case of OBCs, the certificate inter alia must specify that
the candidates should not belong to Creamy layer section excluded from the benefits or
reservation for other backward class in civil post and services of Government of India, OBC
certificate should not be more than one year old as on the date of application.
An ex serviceman candidate has to enclose a xerox copy of the discharge certificate,
retirement/pension order and documentary proof of rank last held.
Candidates serving in Government/Public Sector undertakings (including Banks) should
produce no objection certificate from their employer, at the time of interview, in the absence of
which their candidature will not be considered.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS :
a) Bank takes no responsibility for any delay in receipt or loss in postal transit of any application
or communication.

c) A candidate must fill the application form in CAPITAL LETTERS and should use English numerals.
d) Before applying for any post the candidate should ensure that he/she fulfils the eligibility and
other norms mentioned in this advertisement. Bank would be free to reject any application at
any stage of the recruitment process, if the candidate is found ineligible for the post for which
he/she has applied. The decision of the Bank shall be final in taking decision on qualification
and other eligibility norms.
e) Candidate seeking relaxation in Fee/Age must enclose a certified copy of the certificate in
support of his/her claim and should not send original certificates or testimonials.

use at the time of written examination and interview. Candidates are advised not to change
their appearance till the recruitment process is completed. Failure to produce the same
photograph at the time of written test and interview may lead to disqualification.
i) Candidates serving in Government/Public Sector undertakings (including Banks) should send
their application through proper channels.
j) The above candidates should also produce no objection certificate from their employer, at the
time of interview, in the absence of which their candidature will not be considered. Advance
copy of the application along with the original Bank demand draft/ Bank pay order may be sent
to the above address, within the last date for receipt of application.

k) Only those candidates who are willing to serve anywhere should apply. The Bank is at present
operating in seven districts of Gujarat State Viz., Ahmedabad, Banaskantha, Gandhinagar,
Kutchh, Mehsana , Patan and Sabarkantha .
l) Decision of the Bank in all matters regarding eligibility of the candidate the stages, at which
such scrutiny of eligibility is to be undertaken, the document to be produced for the purpose of
the conduct of examination, Interview, selection and any other mater relating to recruitment
will be final and binding on the candidate, no correspondence or personal enquiries shall be
entertained in this behalf.
m) Bank, may at its discretion hold re-examination wherever necessary in respect of a centre/
venue/specific post of venue or a candidate(s).
n) The Bank shall not be responsible for an application being rejected which is based on wrong
information provided in any advertisement issued by an unauthorized person/Institution.
o) Candidate who apply for more than one post must send separate applications for each post
accompanied by separate fee and separate certified copies of required certificates in
separate envelops.
p) Only certified true copies (duly attested by Gazetted officer) of all certificates should be sent
by the candidate along with the application.
q) Any request for change of address will not be entertained.
r) Each application must be accompanied by -

last/presently held. Those who are still in defense service should submit a certificate
from Competent Authority that they will be relived from defense service, in time, to
enable the candidate to report for duty in the event of selection to work for the Bank.
(f) Disability certificate issued by duly constituted Medical Board at District level,
incorporating therein the nature and extent of disability, in the case of person with
Disability candidates.

3. Certificate of Nativity (Domicile).
s) Any resultant dispute arising out of this advertisement shall be subject to the sole jurisdiction
of the courts situated in Gandhinagar.
t) Bank takes no responsibility for any certificate/remittance sent separately by candidate.
u) No Candidate is permitted to use calculator, Mobiles, pagers or any other such instruments
during the examination. The candidates will appear for the written examination at the allotted
centers at their own expenses and risks and the Bank will not be responsible for any injury/loss
etc, of any nature.
v) Candidate in their own interest are advised to submit their application well in time before the
last date to avoid possible delay in postal transit, Applications received after the last date will
be rejected.

w) Appointment of selected candidates is subjected to his/her being declared medically fit as per
the requirement of the Bank. Such appointments will be subject to the Service & Conduct Rules
of the Bank

Competent Authority for Issue of Certificate to SC/ST/OBC/PC is as under :


(a) For SC/ST/OBC – District Magistrate/ Addl. Distt. Magistrate/ Collector/ Deputy Commissioner/
Addl. Dy. Commissioner/ Dy. Collector/ First Class Stipendary Magistrate/ Sub- Division
Magistrate / Taluka Magistrate/ Executive Magistrate/ Extra Assistant Commissioner/ Chief
Presidency Magistrate/ Additional Chief Presidency Magistrate/ Presidency Magistrate/
Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tahsildar/ Sub Divisional Officer of the area where the
candidate and/ or his/ her family normally resides.
(b) For Physically Challenged – the Competent Authority to issue Disability Certificate shall be a
Medical Board duly constituted by the Central or State Govt. The Central/ State Govt. may
constitute Medical Boards consisting of at least 3 members out of which one shall be a
specialist in the particular field for assessing locomotor/ celebral/ visual/ hearing disability as
the case may be.
Action Against Candidates Found Guilty of Misconduct:
Candidates are advised in their own interest that they should not furnish any particulars that are false,
tampered, fabricated and should not surpass any material information while filling up the application
form. At the time of written examination/ interview, if a candidate is (or has been) found guilty of – (i)
using unfair means during the examination or (ii) impersonating or procuring impersonation by any
person or (iii) misbehaving in the examination hall or taking away the question booklet (or any part
thereof ) / answer sheet from the examination hall or (iv) resorting to any irregular or improper means
in connection with his/ her candidature for selection or (v) obtaining support for his/ her candidature
by unfair means, such a candidate may, in addition to rendering himself/ herself liable to criminal
prosecution, be liable :
(a) to be disqualified from the examination for which he/ she is a candidate.
(b) To be debarred either permanently or for a specified period from any examination or
recruitment conducted by Dena Gujarat Gramin Bank.
(c) For termination of service, if he/ she has already joined the Bank.
The Bank would be analyzing the responses of a candidate with other candidates to detect patterns of
similarity, if as per the laid down procedure, it is suspected that the responses have been shared and
scores obtained are not genuine/ valid, the bank reserves right to cancel his/ her candidature.
Call Letters for Written Examination :

All eligible candidates will be issued call letters at the correspondence address given by
the candidates in their application form, which will be sent by post. An eligible candidates
who do not receive the call letter by (i)28-02-2011 for Post Code-1 and (ii) 07-03-2011
for Post Code-2 should contact at the following address with details of his/her name,
address, Xerox copy of the Demand Draft for the fee deposited alongwith a photograph
pasted thereon, for obtaining duplicate call letters. Duplicate call letters will be issued
between 10.30 A.M.to 2.30 P.M. as per the following schedule:-

Clerical Cadre (Office Assistant) from 08-03-2011 to 12-03-2011
