Key BSEC Toolkit Model Features Include:

• Sophisticated, project requirement matched terrain analysis

• Operational time and space based threats and response force position analysis
• Automated placement and optimization of all sensor, communications links tower positions, heights and compositions over the entire project
• Accurate camera, radar and acoustic sensor simulation and coverage area estimation by individual or combined sensor in worldview modes
• Simplified and facile assessment of active and passive delay countermeasure placement alternatives
• Ready support of the complete cost benefit analysis of alternative deployments and the impact of new technology and intelligence.

How Planner’s Use the Toolkit:
Security planners begin their planning work by defining
project areas of interest (AOI) in their model. Planners use
the AOI to incorporate current intelligence and define
their operational posture. Once AOI are defined, planners
begin their time and space analysis of threat and blue
force responses.

Toolkit’s time and space analysis and graphic displays give

the planner the important advantage of readily high-
lighting force deployment and existing countermeasure
effectiveness. Planners can see potential vulnerabilities
and estimate the need for sensors, force redeployments or

assess response force deployment and the need for barriers and delays.
Note the terrain’s effect on response force travel times.
Planners can rapidly assess the effectiveness of each loca-
tion. This first automatic planning mode is particularly use-
ful in extremely complex project areas and when the plan-
ner is not sure which sensor is best to use in a particular
area. The second automatic planning mode will calculate
the best locations of all available sensors for entire project
area. This mode supports deployment of both radars and
cameras simultaneously and requires minimum input from
the planner. Planners use the multi-sensor mode in an
iterative manner.

Either Toolkit automatic planning mode will accurately

and quickly calculate sensor locations, coverage areas and
blind spots, while dramatically reducing project planning
time, equipment and management costs. Toolkit gener-
ates numerous useful reports including a complete sensor

TOOLKIT BENEFITS
• Increased Design Conf idence: Supports rapid analysis of automatically produced security system deployments and
alternative “what if” re-positioning of guard posts, response forces, sensors and security barriers.

• Lower Costs: Significantly lowers project budgets, design time and project delivery time through automated processes
for locating guard posts, sensors, barriers and response forces.

• Reduced Project Complexity: Significantly reduces the representation of complex sensor digital outputs into an easy to
understand and accurate graphical display format.

• Improved Results: Allows planners to rapidly reduce critical threats and vulnerabilities.
• Rapid Evaluation: Permits the accurate and rapid evaluation of existing security measures.
• Better Future Planning: Supports enhanced operational and engineering plans generation with precise and rapid
data generation.

• Reduces Errors, Enhances Reliability and Accuracy: Provides a list of specifications, detailed design, and project
implementation requirements.
