Roman Religion

The study of the great civilizations is a fundamental part of the history of humanity, even more
from a religious perspective. They evolved their primary doctrines, establishing as a fundamental
basis for great organizations and idiosyncrasies worldwide from the spirituality and
understanding of the human being. Establishing an understanding of Roman governance from
religious activities with the term "Roman religion" allows us to know its evolution to what is
now known as Christianity, which in its beginnings was not a compressive revolution of human
life.

From a broader point of view, this book, divided into 8 chapters, shows more than a millennium
of the different religions developed in Rome, and brings together religious life from the
beginnings of the city to the periods of the Christian emperors; showing the multiplicity of
beliefs, customs and rites of the different social classes that made up the Roman Empire. This
work entitled “A History” was published in 1998 by the prestigious UK publisher Cambridge
University Press, with periodic reprints until 2004. The authors are members of the University of
Cambridge, University College London and the University of Oxford respectively, these authors
have academics merits for their different individual works as well as their role as tutor and
researcher in their different houses of study with the exception of Prince Simon, who passed
away in 2011. For readers and researchers interested in the rites, traditions and, customs of
Roman families in the times from the founding of the city to the adoption of Christianity as a
form of government, it presents a good source of information with visual support of geographical
and artistic elements with a religious topic for the more than 1000 years of religion in Rome.
