Ever committed to its mission of proclaiming Jesus Christ as the Good News to all by
providing quality Catholic education, Saint Michael College adopts the blended/flexible learning
modality in the delivery of quality Catholic education. As we continue to fight the challenges
besetting our world today due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Saint Michael College remains
steadfast to innovate and advance in order to continually serve Michaelinians with an education
that is marked by academic excellence and deep spirituality.
With this Michaelinian Education in the New Normal, SMC commits itself to journey
with all Michaelinians so that they are holistically formed as Selfless Stewards, Missionary in
Spirit, and Christ-centered men and women for others.
BLENDED/FLEXIBLE LEARNING
2. Online learning with the aid of internet and digital gadgets either synchronous (live) or
asynchronous (self-paced).
a. Synchronous online learning is when students are engaged in learning at the same
time, but not in the same place. Teaching and learning happen in real-time.
b. Asynchronous online learning does not occur in the same place or at the same time.
Students learn from instruction in the form of prerecorded video lessons or game-
based learning tasks that students complete independently. This is not being delivered
in person or in real-time.
Face-to-Face Learning
When conditions allow, once a week On-Campus Face-to-Face Learning will also be
done. On campus, safety and sanitary precautions will be implemented like the wearing of masks
and physical distancing. SMC will also limit the number of students in a classroom and limit
large gatherings to keep everyone safe and healthy. On other days, students do the activities in
their modules or meet as a class online.
