Please refer back to the Core Study "Tropical Rain

Forests Are Disappearing" and answer the following:

How would you explain the importance of tropical rain forests (Core Case Study) to people who
think that such forests have no connection to their lives?

-contain up to half of the world’s known terrestrial plant and animal species. = great laboratory for the
study of ecosystems.

AT LEAST HALD were already destroyed or disturbed by human activities

- Clearing will reduce the earth’s vital biodiversity

- Extinction of species
- Accelerate atmospheric warming/ climate change
- Large-scale rain forest losses can change regional weather patterns = less diverse tropical
grasslands

Tropical Rain Forests are considered to be one of most important aspect in studying our ecosystems for
it contain up to half of the world’s known terrestrial plant and animal species, though despite this
significant role it plays, human beings tend to destroy or disrupt at least half of it. In the case study, it
stated some of the negative impacts if our tropical rain forests would be destroyed which are as follows:
reduction of earth’s vital biodiversity, extinction of species, and acceleration of atmospheric warming
also known as climate change and tropical grasslands would be less diverse meaning cannot anymore
adapt or resist changes happening in the environment. With this, it clearly shows the importance of
tropical rain forests in our lives and we should not be destroying it because at the end of the day our
actions would revert back to us.
