Objective: To test student’s ability to describe a new product that uses mind-control technology to
create useful, life-changing applications.

Directions:

 This assignment is worth 15% of the final grade and it is worth 50 points.
 You can work in pairs for this assignment. Imagine you are inventors. You should work with a partner to
prepare a short presentation of a product for a company that is developing appliances that use mind-
control technology. You should talk about the product detail (what It does, who should buy it-target market;
how it is useful)
 You have to give your presentation on Wednesday, November 25thth.
 Your presentation should last from 5 to 6 minutes.
 In the presentation you have to include the following language aspects:
1. Use of adverbial phrases of time, manner and attitude (e.g. luckily, easily, in the future, probably)
2. Vocabulary to talk about the brain studied in Unit 10 (e.g. memory, concentration, sensation, etc)
 Be careful with aspects like the conjugation of verbs, vocabulary, pronunciation, and organization of ideas.
Include the following information to organize your speech.

1. Name of the product. 4. How it’s useful.

2. Why you decided to invent it. 5. Who should buy it (target market)
3. What it does (how it works).

 Please, speak as clearly as possible with a moderate volume for your audience to listen to your
presentation. If your speech is not clear or difficult to hear, your teacher will grade it as wrong.
 You are NOT permitted to use your notes during the presentation. Your teacher will assess your oral skills,
not your ability to read aloud.
 It is necessary that you support your ideas with visual aids such as Presentations (Power Point, Visme,
Amaze, prezi, etc), infographics (Genialy, Canva, info.gram), pictures, etc.
 Make sure that your presentation slides are effective. Consider the following tips to prepare your slides
a) Keep the background plain.
b) Do not use too much text.
c) Use strong, contrasting colors.
d) Keep the graphics or images simple.
 It is important that you do not read from the slides and use key words only, rather than complete ideas.
 Once you prepare your visual presentation, please send it to my email in advance
mariac.gomezj@upb.edu.co at least the day before the presentation, so that I can store it in my laptop in
order to avoid technical inconveniences during the presentation.
 When the time for your presentation arrives, you will have 7 minutes to do it (2 minutes to get prepared,
Project the Power Point Presentation and organize your stuff, and other 4 or 6 minutes to speak).
