Regional Curriculum Project - Puno

The Regional Curriculum Project is the result of joint undertaking. It has been possible thanks to
the numerous discussions with education stakeholders and community, comments and opinions
of experts, the efforts of teams of Educational Management Division of the Regional Bureau of
Education of Puno and the invaluable support and commitment of CARE - Puno.

The ethnic, cultural and multilingual diversity present in education suggests that the best practice
is participatory and cooperative work. The creation of the regional curriculum project allows one
to find best solutions and present it as an innovative alternative for the assertion of cultural
identity (regional), linked to the intercultural dialogue (national, international) and respond to
current needs.

The curriculum has three components: basic knowledge, problem definition and learned
knowledge. As such, objective knowledge (social and historically accumulated), before
becoming subjective knowledge (learned knowledge) passes through the intermediate area of
problem definition. The essence of problem definition is accepting the discrepancy between what
exists and what should exist, and suggesting an option for change.

The Regional Curriculum Project is aimed at Basic Education on all levels, which in turn
coordinates with the demands of higher education.

Vision - Regional Education Project by 2015

"By 2015 in the Puno region, a comprehensive, quality, humanistic, scientific, technological,
inclusive, democratic, decentralized and innovative education will be developed. This education
will identify with Andean culture and ecosystem conservation through the active participation of
regional and local authorities, as well as civil society as members of an educational and ethical
community that provides opportunity for multi-sectored interaction. The educational system will
be characterized teaching that is ethical, creative, investigative and able to adapt to changes and
new scenarios, respectful of intercultural practices, original languages, and committed to a
culture of peace, for human and productive development of the region. Students will perform
efficiently and effectively in life and the work world, practicing values, capable of meeting the
challenges of globalization and lead productive and business development in a democratic, just
and united society."

values of responsibility, solidarity, reciprocity, industriousness, tolerance, honor, fairness,
respect, honesty, democracy and social sensitivity."
