Title

Focus Introductory level course to anti-racism

Goal The overarching goal is a shame-free but still authentic and


accountable way to engage in diversity work

Objectives 1. Define and personally explore terms important to


diversity work, including: stereotypes, biases,
microaggressions, privilege, oppression,
intersectionality, herd invisibility, etc.
2. Explore some commonly held biases and privileges,
including a discussion of why it is so difficult to see our
own privileges. 
3. Discuss the problems with the colorblind and
multicultural competence frameworks to diversity work.
4. Share the cultural humility framework as an alternative
to these models.
5. Offer 20+ simple suggestions of specific activities you
could do to take the next step in your diversity journey
(e.g. confronting microaggressions, managing
racist/sexist/heterosexist "jokes").
