PROJECT PROPOSAL

After conducting the survey in Barangay Balong Bato of San Juan City, the results
have shown that the leading problem of the community is security. With this, our group
would like to propose a workshop in the said barangay. The workshop is entitled "Self
Defense Workshop: Get the Security of Protection" where we will be explaining self defense
and invite a professional from San Juan City's police district to teach basic self defense and
other things that one should know when strangers attack them violently. The project will
happen four (4) times every month, and will last for about three (3) hours every session.
Those that will be joining the workshop needs to register every session to monitor each
participant's improvement and participation. The seminar and workshops will be a great way
in dealing with such crimes that are happening nowadays. it would be great to have the
ability to defend yourself since we cannot always rely on the government in our safety and
our loved ones'.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

Among the results to be achieved are these key objectives:

• To impart knowledge to the people of the Barangay Balong Bato about self defense.
• To give factors that are conducive to criminal activities.
• To be mindful about what is the current status of the community regarding safety.
• To be informed who will call or who will be responding whenever there are offense.

PROJECT BOUNDARIES

One significant problem that Barangay Balong-Bato is currently facing is the lack of
security. Therefore, the project aims to organize activities that will promote the principles of self
defence. Specifically, a seminar to instruct discussions and a workshop to cater first-hand
experience will be held. The project will be open to all citizens of the Barangay regardless of
their demographic profiles. The seminar will only be held once but the workshop will be for four
times a week in a span of one year. After that year, the barangay will be assessed again to
know if the program was an effective solution to their problem.
PROJECT LOCATION

The project’s programs will be held inside the Barangay Balong Bato’s multi-purpose
hall. The building has 3 floors which includes their barangay hall, gymnasium, and ground floor
for their vehicles that are used for quick response. The seminar will be held at the gymnasium
that can accommodate 150 persons and the workshop as well that will be held in the next 5
days prior to the seminar. On the other hand, the workshop can accommodate up to 30 persons
per session.

PROJECT TARGET BENEFICIARIES

2. Finishing of

research paper

To satisfy and meet the goals of the event, the team members decided to evaluate the
Barangay for 1 year after the seminar and workshop has conducted. This will serve as the
overall outcome of the said programs if it truly helps the people in the community regarding their
sense of security within their barangay.
PROJECT METHODOLOGIES

The foremost objective of this project is to identify the three major problems that exist
within the chosen barangay, and to develop a program that would be beneficial to both
researchers and community. Brainstorming and planning within the group was the first step that
every member contributed their own ideas and suggestions for the betterment of the target
objective. The nearby barangay was chosen for two reasons, due its proximity and convenient
to most researchers. Eventually, the most crucial part of the project, the surveying process. Prior
to the survey, the group went to the chairman's office to seek first its permission before the
survey questionnaires disseminated, door-to-door. In fact, for this project, the group utilized an
indirect or survey method. The prepared questionnaires would be sought to assess the major
problems that these residents had experienced through the years. The data then will be
collected from the corresponding questionnaires and this will be tallied with respect to its levels
of importance.

A survey research is a commonly used method by the researchers to gather and collect
information and data about the population of interest. Although there are various types of
survey, we then decided to adopt a survey questionnaire and it incorporates likert-scale
questions wherein the respondents are given a list of predetermined responses from which to
choose their answer that can be scaled, for instance, starting at “Di-sapat” scaling all the way up
to “Sapat”.

With the data we extracted from the survey questionnaires is indeed crucial for us to
develop a kind of activity such as workshop or seminar that will solely help the chosen barangay
become equitable with the knowledge and skills, which it's also helpful to minimize the prolong
effect of this problem. Nevertheless, this project proposal is readily presented to teachers,
desired institutions and especially to barangay Balong-Bato.
