PERSONAL MISSION STATEMENT 3

Introduction
This report is about the personal and professional mission statement. Li, S. T. T., Frohna,
J. G., & Bostwick, S. B. in (2017) stated that personal and professional mission statement is to
define our values and personal skills which are helping us to reach towards success. Petroski, H.
(2018) described that success is the goal of every individual and everyone feels delighted when
they make their career successful. The personal and professional mission statement should be in
accordance with your profession.
Moreover, I have identified my unique gifts and passion, which are given to me by GOD.
The next thing is the circumstances, and then I described my values and how they are helping me
in decision making. I have stated how Ethical theories helped me to identify my values. Then I
found the ethical challenges that I can face and how I will deal with them and why these
challenges need to be addressed. In the end, I have discovered my leadership skills and my role
as a Leader of an organization.

Mission statement
My Personal and Professional Mission statement is:
“To believe that growth is possible when you encourage your subordinates, to create
opportunities, and inspire others with positivity.”
This mission statement helps me every-time to think about others and how I can spread
positivity in the organization. I believe that the growth of an organization and individual is
possible when we encourage the people around us. Steers, R. M., & Sánchez‐Runde, C. J. (2017)
said that we could make an environment which motivates us to do work. And this will help our
subordinates to take assistance where they need it and to improve their skills, and this will
ultimately become a positive point for the growth of organization.

My unique gifts
I am blessed by a set of unique gifts that keeps me motivated to make my career
successful. These unique gifts help me to focus on why I am doing this? It helps me to get
motivation and never say that I cannot do this.

At the workplace;
PERSONAL MISSION STATEMENT 4

 I like to be the one who can move things forward and solving the issues.
 I feel excited to see the growth of people and the organization where I work.
 I love to work with people having good values.
 I am known as a Creative Leader who wants to bring new trends of leading the team,
develop the team members, and assisting them to be creative and committed.
 I believe that these gifts should benefit other people, and they can be the reason for
someone’s happiness.

If these gifts are utilized properly, then they can become the reason for your satisfaction.
All these gifts can make you a person who is independent, and he can earn through these gifts. It
helps us to get developed. We become able to identify the purpose of our life. These gifts are
given to you by your GOD, and how you use them is a gift by you for GOD.

My Passion
Passion is something that keeps us energized to do work. Every individual should have the
knowledge about what is passion and what is their passion? The person has the right to discover
their passion, and it is their responsibility to recognize their passion. Vallerand, R. J. (2015)
found that Passion plays the role of giving fuel to perform any action. I am passionate, and my
passion keeps me alive to achieve my goals. Without passion, a person cannot achieve the goals.
There should be something that keeps him motivated and the person never feels disappointed.
Success and failure are decided by the passion of a person, and for making a successful
career, one must be passionate about the work for a successful career.
 I am passionate about helping other people.
 I have a passion to get the best out of my team members.
 I am passionate about resolving the issues and tackle with the hindrances I face during
my work. This passion keeps me motivated to make my career successful.
 I can take big challenges and present a creative idea to solve these challenges.
 I have the vision to take the team members towards positive growth and to teach them
about leadership through my actions.
 I have a passion to be a leader of a multinational company.
 The most important point is that I am honest, and I want to be true to myself.
PERSONAL MISSION STATEMENT 5

My Circumstances
Circumstances are the conditions of life that have an impact on the career of a person.
The circumstances are the facts or reality that are present in a person’s lives. These situations or
events have the power to motivate or demotivate someone. For example, a person belonging to a
poor family has different goals than a person belonging to an elite class family. This means that
this factor can directly impact the way we think or act. Moreover, the different roles you are
playing in your life can make you different from the other person. A person can be a father or a
son, and both have different responsibilities, which helps them to identify the goals and
motivates them to achieve those goals.
I belong to a middle-class family, and I have moderate circumstances in my life. I am not
facing too many difficulties nor am I enjoying life lavishly. Fouad, N. A., Kim, S. Y., Ghosh, A.,
Chang & Figueiredo in (2016) stated that family also plays a role in decision making. Belonging
to a middle-class family makes me responsible and helping person. I can feel the pain the
persons who belong to lower middle class. I want to do something better for them so that they
can grow their careers and make their life easier. It is easy to set goals of personal development,
but it is difficult to think about the benefits of others.

My values
The values are the one that defines who you are and what is important in the way you act
or behave. These values help you to set standards of your life and differentiate between right or
wrong. Strauss (2017) stated that you could identify your values by the way you live your life
and whenever you do something which is against your values can make you guilty. Your values
can define your goals, too, and by following the values you can achieve the goals. It helps you to
choose the right path and gain respect from other people.
My values are:
 To be honest in life.
 To be true to myself.
 To be confident.
 Never say ‘No’ to any work.
 To do work with full delegation.
 To help my subordinates.
 To become a supportive leader.
 To respect the people around me.
PERSONAL MISSION STATEMENT 6

My values help me to identify which work is right or wrong for me. It helps me to choose
between right or wrong actions. I always respect my values and never do anything which is
against my values.
How my values help me in decision making?
These values help me to take right decisions, and I can follow these values to reach my goal. I
can easily decide which is good for me and which is not. For example, my value is to be true to
myself, and if I ever asked to say a wrong statement to anyone then my values will not allow me
to do so.

Ethical Theories
There are three ethical theories:
1. Utilitarian ethics
2. Deontological ethics
3. Virtue ethics
Relation of my values and ethical theories
These ethical theories have a major impact on my values. Barrow (2015) described that
the Utilitarian ethics theory states that we should do for the well-being of the people as much as
we can. We must help others who need our support. Help can be of any kind, like sharing
information and ideas. My values include helping my subordinates. As a leader, I always make
decisions while keeping them in my mind. I help and guide them whenever they need it. I
support them in every situation. I always discuss the problems with my fellow workers. I never
impose my decisions on them rather I value their suggestions before making any decision.
Chakrabarty & Bass in (2015) stated that Deontological theory says that we should
respect others and treat them with dignity. A person should make decisions that will not hurt
other’s feelings. We should be empathetic enough to understand the problems of others. We
should be polite in our behaviors. I possess these values in my personality. I always respect my
fellows and other people, whether they are elder or young people around me. Giving respect to
others helps us to increase our social circle, and we gain a good reputation, among others.
Hart (2019) stated that virtue ethics means doing virtues that will help us make good
public relations. Anything we do should be helpful to others. Our actions should not be harmful
to others. We should do activities that cause benefits for others. This theory also relates to my
PERSONAL MISSION STATEMENT 7

values as I always try to do activities for the benefit of other people. I am always there for the
benefit of my subordinates and other people around me.
How ethical theories helped me to identify my values?
These theories helped me to identify my values. I got to know the rules to spend a happy
life. We only gain respect from others when we give respect to them. I help others so that they
will also help me in the time of need. This has helped me to identify the right and wrong actions
I do. These theories guide us that if we do something beneficial for a large number of people, but
causes harm to less number of people, then we are going on the right track. So I don’t enact any
virtues that cause harm to any single person for the benefit of others.

Ethical Challenges
These are the challenges related to the ethical values of a company. Lavan & Martin
(2018) found that if anyone violates the ethical values, then it will become an ethical challenge
for the management of company.
How I will handle ethical challenges?
Being a leader, I can face many challenges, but the most important challenges are ethical
challenges. I believe that an organization can grow if its employees follow the ethics of the
organization. Following are the ethical challenges I can face as a leader, and I have described the
ways that how I can handle these challenges:
 To manage a diverse group of people: I can handle this challenge by following the
Virtue ethics theory, which states that we should do activities that will benefit the people.
I can give training to my employees to learn ethical values so that all the employees will
perform following the same direction.
 Issue of cyberethics: I can handle this challenge by following the Utilitarianism ethics
theory which states that we should do maximum work for the benefit of maximum
number of people. I will ensure that the system of the organization is safe and I will take
initiatives to control cyber-crimes.
 Workplace violence: I can handle this challenge by following the Deontology ethics
theory which states that we should do respect other people. I can teach my team members
to not violate the ethics of organization by doing any wrongful conduct.
PERSONAL MISSION STATEMENT 8

 Adherence to Law: I can handle this challenge by following the Utilitarianism theory,
which states that we should not do the activities that will provide harm to anyone. I will
guide my team members that adherence to law is important for achieving the goal and not
doing any illegal work that will harm the reputation of organization.

Why these challenges need to be handled?

Ferrell, O. C., & Fraedrich, J. (2015) stated that these challenges need to be handled as
they can violate the ethical values of the organization, and ultimately the organization will fail to
achieve the goals of the company. As a leader I have to ensure that employees are following the
ethical values and they are showing interest in learning the ethical theories.

Leadership from my point of View

Leadership is a broad term in which all the aspects of being a leader or boss is covered. A
leader should listen to his team members. He should take them towards growth. Leadership
requires patience and positivity. Nawaz & Khan (2016) described that If a leader is an optimistic
person then the environment of the organization becomes comfortable for the employees and
they are motivated to achieve their goals. Because they get encouragement from their leader.
My leadership skills
As a leader, I should consider that all the team members are equal and I have to take them
towards growth. I consider that my positive attitude and appreciation will boost their confidence
and they can get inspiration from my actions. For being a leader I have the following skillset:
 To believe in possibilities.
 Emotional maturity.
 To motivate my team.
 To listen to them carefully.
 To assess the skills of my team members.

My Role as a Leader
I think that I can play a great role as a Leader as I have the potential to become a leader. I
can be a creative leader who wants to bring creativity in leading a team. I will be a supportive
leader, and it will help in the growth of my team members. I have an emotional maturity, which
helps me to be emotionally strong, and I don’t let anyone control my emotions. This makes me
PERSONAL MISSION STATEMENT 9

strong as a leader and takes decisions in tough situations. Emotional maturity is the plus point of
being a leader.

Conclusion
This study enabled me to discover my skills and abilities. I am now able to assess my
skills. I have learned about ethical theories and how I can identify my values by following ethical
theories. I learned about the ethical challenges and how I can solve these problems by following
ethical theories. I found my leadership skills and values that will help me to decide what is right
and what is wrong for me? I explained the circumstances of life. Overall, this study is a good
experience for me and my professional life.
