A Message From Our Principal 
Dear Parents/Guardians,  
 
The first semester has flown by, and I would like to commend all of our students, staff and families for your 
hard work and dedication! We know that this time has not been easy, but through it all we continue to educate 
and provide a safe and nurturing learning environment for all of our students.   
In order for your child to continue progressing throughout the school year, consistent ​ATTENDANCE ​is 
essential whether it’s F2F or remotely. Our teachers provide live teach sessions, intervention/enrichment, and 
small group instruction throughout the school day. Participation in these instructional sessions is important to 
your child’s success. We kindly ask for your continued partnership to encourage, motivate and recognize the 
academic efforts of our students and teachers. Never more than today, it truly takes a village! 
As we move forward to the remainder of the school year, I encourage you to stay in 
close communication with your child’s teacher. It is our top priority to keep our 
Schallert families informed regarding information that is crucial in keeping our 
students and staff healthy, safe and academically/socially engaged. If you have any 
questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call your child’s teacher or myself.

From the Assistant Principal…...
I am extremely honored to have the opportunity to be a part of the Schallert 
community! I have enjoyed getting to know all of the staff, students and families.  
First of all, I’d like to thank our students and staff for working hard each and every 
day! I want to acknowledge our 4th grade students for their dedication in doing their 
best on the recent Writing Benchmark. Hard work pays off!!  
Also, our District Reading and Math Benchmark for 3rd and 4th grade will be taking 
place the week of March 8-12.   
Last but not least, I’d like to acknowledge our parents for making sure that students 
are here everyday and for making sure that our virtual 
students are logging on to Clever. Good attendance 
contributes to their academic success and in preparing them 
for the future.  
I look forward to a productive and prosperous second 
semester! Go Bulldogs!!

Guidance and Counseling with Mrs. Benavides 

Hello all! Here at Schallert Elementary, we have been implementing a new 
curriculum called, ​CharacterStrong​. This curriculum teaches students to forge 
meaningful relationships, build a positive community, focus on 
social-emotional learning, and develop character. Each activity is designed to 
help students experience the month’s character trait through engaging activities 
and powerful discussions. This month’s character trait is​ ​Cooperation​! Next 
month, we will be focusing on​ ​Courage​. If you feel that your child needs 
counseling, feel free to contact me here at the school or by

 PE NEWS
It is that time of the year that our yearly fitnessgram be administered to our 3rd
and 4th grade students. You can find a brief description of what Fitnessgram is
and what test students will be taking.

What is the fitnessgram?

FITNESSGRAM is the national fitness assessment and reporting program for youth. The assessment includes
a variety of health-related physical fit- ness tests designed to assess cardiovascular fitness, muscle strength,
muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition.

What are the student’s tested on?

The FITNESSGRAM test consists of the Pacer test, Curl-ups, Trunk lift, Push-ups, and the Shoulder stretch.
The Pacer test measures aerobic capacity while the Curl-ups and Trunk Lift measures the Abdominal Strength
and Endurance. Push-up measures upper body strength and endurance.

Can you fail the fitnessgram test?

There is no pass or fail on the FITNESSGRAM test.
