Places 2 :Q2

Part 2

My friend and I have decided to take a trip to Spain next summer. Spain is a

country located on the Iberian Peninsula in South Western Europe. We are going
at the end of August, at this time in Spain is just perfect. The sky is blue, the
temperatures in the high 20s.
Neither of us has been to Spain before, and we plan to visit: Barcelona, Valencia,
and Madrid. We plan to go for roughly two weeks as that's the most time we can
take off of work. We choose Spain for many reasons: Spain enjoys a
Mediterranean climate, which means the temperatures are pleasant enough for
sightseeing. Spain has plenty of attractions and activities.

Q. Say something about tourism development in your country, facility, services and the effect on the
environment.
In my country tourism industry plays a fundamental role not only in the summer, peak hour for
tourism but also in other seasons. I live in Saudi Arabia so I would say that religious tourism
constitutes an indispensable part of my country's economy. To begin, because of the Muslims believe
that Mecca and Madina hold a special religious significance. More precisely, Religious tourism in my
country is one of the largest and most popular types of tourism around the world and many facilities
such as airports, hospitals, hotels and restaurants have been constructed and they aren't beneficial
only to visitors but also to locals. Many seasonal stores operate this period and in this way, more
people get employed and acquire an income, and the whole economy is developed and consequently,
the country prospers.

Q. What is the importance of the travel and tourism industry?

It is widely accepted that tourism is an essential sector of a country’s economy and in this way,
numerous benefits can be gained. The most important contribution of travel and tourism could be
argued that is in the economic sector. As mentioned previously, tourism provides employment and
earning sources for many people. It also brings many facilities as well, not only to visitors but also to
local inhabitants. By the constructions of hotels, travel agencies, airlines, restaurants and other leisure
industries, which are used by the visitors, a great amount of money is earned, and thus a country's
GDP develops.
Q. What do you think the function of tourist guides?
A tour guide is a person who guides the visitors to explore different tourist attractions, explain the
historical aspects of a place or a thing in the language of their choice. Guides help travellers to
understand the culture of the region and the way of life its inhabitants and therefore, it is imperative
that they are knowledgeable about the cities and countries where they work. Hence, they provide
information on a country's culture, history, customs and heritage and they try to do their best in order
for foreign visitors to understand what they see in-depth. it is regarded to be a unique profession
with great prestige.
What steps should the government take to make tourism more attractive to foreigners?
Before you even start to tour, a good website that helps you understand and learn about how to get
around, what to see, what to do if you have a problem etc is a good start. On arrival, especially in a
country where your language is not spoken, it helps if the local tourism authority has maps and other
information in languages other than their own.
Tourism infrastructure also helps. When you arrive you want to be able to safely catch a taxi, a bus, or
a train (or a connecting flight) to your destination. In many countries, volunteer guides greet incoming
tourists at the international airport and can steer you in the right direction.
Within the country you are touring it helps if the local populace are friendly, helpful and welcoming.
What also helps tourism are small things like pictures on the menu of the meals they serve, so that
you can point to something that looks appetising, rather than try to work out what it is .Some
countries have tourism police who are supposed to guide tourist to places of interest
