PRESS RELEASE: CONGREGATION TIFERETH ISRAEL OF PASSAIC, NEW JERSEY CELEBRATES 121 YEAR -
HONORS BOY WITH AUTISM

Every year, Congregation Tifereth Israel honors those members whose outstanding leadership, dedication and support
have enhanced our shul. This year, we are privileged to bestow four distinct awards on the chosen members, who truly
th
embody the Tifereth. Join us at the shul ballroom on March 13 as we honor these individuals and our beloved shul in its
st
incredible 121 year:

Charles and Nicole Sebbag. Guests of Honor. Joining the elite group of families who have received this prestigious
award, Charles, Nicole and family truly earned this senior title with unwavering devotion to the shul over thirteen years of
membership. Without fanfare, Charles has been an active participant, supporter and leader in the shul's beis medrash
program. Co-President of the sisterhood for many years, Nicole remains an active member of the sisterhood and
spearheaded last year's clothing boutique event. Nicole's almost singlehanded dedication to the boutique raised a lot of
funds and awareness for our shul at a critical time.

Gavriel and Shira Giloni. Service Award. The Gilonis came to our community and our shul six years ago and made their
impact felt almost immediately. Gavi spearheaded the shul's growing hashkama minyan and remains its gabbai. Under his
stewardship, the minyan boasts over 20 men on an average Shabbos and more than sixty on Simchas Torah! Gavi also
lends his organizational skills to the shul's shaimos drive and - in addition to serving on the board - became the shul's
treasurer this year. Not to be outdone by her husband, Shira's selfless work as the shul's office manager has brought
unprecedented responsiveness and dedication to the position, as she performs her duties day and night on behalf of our
shul.

Ozer and Deborah Herzog. Young Leadership Award. Ozer and Deborah's innate perception and compassion have been
a blessing to our shul. Ozer, sensing a void in the shul's youth programming, shouldered the burden of organizing,
running and serving as madrich for the youth groups. Under Ozer's leadership, our younger children look forward to
coming to groups Shabbos morning. Ozer also actively participates in the shul beis medrash program and is instrumental
in assuring that everyone who asks, regardless of ability or interest, finds an appropriate and fulfilling chavrusah in our
beis medrash. Similarly, Deborah has selflessly lent herself to the sisterhood as treasurer and has been a valued member
of our kehilla.

Eliezer Gorelik. Avodas HaKodesh Award. What an amazing story is embodied in the unassuming frame of this unique
individual! Eliezer came to shul as a young boy and has been a regular and meaningful presence ever since. As a child -
now adult - with autism, Eliezer's dedication to Avodas Hashem has served to enlighten us all in the meaning of our
relationship to Hakadosh Baruch Hu. As a little boy, Eliezer sat next to Rabbi Emeritus, Rabbi Weinberger on the podium
every Shabbos and shook every Oleh L'Torah's hand right after the Rav. As an adult, Eliezer's involvement has expanded
to official duties during Hotza'a V'Hachnasas HaTorah, Kiddush, Shalosh Seudos and even proofreading the shul's
monthly calendar. There is not an individual who davens in Eliezer's presence that isn't moved by his example.
