TYPE OF TASK: Interview


ROLES: Reporter and citizen
PURPOSE: Provide and request information about the citizen’s habits, traditions and customs in Medellín.
PROMPT: You are a news reporter working on a new article about habits and traditions of Medellin´s
inhabitants. You must conduct interviews to adults in different main neighborhoods of the city (Belén, Aranjuez,
Boston, etc.) about their and their family’s habits and traditions.
The task requires the following aspects:
1. The task will be in pairs and you will be randomly assigned a classmate the same day the oral task is
programmed.
2. Provide a detailed description of the habits and traditions that families have.
3. Provide a description of the location ad schedules where and when these habits and traditions take place.
4. Describe why it is considered a tradition.
5. Be prepared to ask and answer questions about the topic.
6. Time assigned: 3 minutes each pair.

Communication and content: understand and complete the task
assigned by using information citizen’s habits, traditions and customs
in Medellín.; communicate and send messages so the audience is left
with no questions.
Fluency: produce a cohesive discourse, the act of speaking in
understandable, ideas are linked with basic linear connectors, organize
the sentences in a logical discourse according to the level.
Vocabulary: use words to describe traditions, habits and customs
(celebrations, parades, schedule, etc.); use vocabulary related to
locations, time, habits and hobbies; and use a variety of words to make
the dialogue interesting.
Structure: produce the simple present and past structures
(affirmative, negative) as well as present progressive, connectors,
adjectives and descriptors when talking people’s habits, traditions and
customs in Medellín, pose and answer information questions and use
other sentence structures to make the dialogue interesting.
Pronunciation: pronounce and produce intonation patterns of basic
sounds that allow the audience to understand the message and
pronounce words without interfering with the message.
